Modern country cottage in the Somerset countryside, Wells. The cottage sleeps 4 with two comfortable single rooms, a generous king. The cottage houses a fully fitted kitchen with washing and drying facilities as well as a comfortable lounge area equipped with games and dvds for nights in! The outside space is a lovely private courtyard with plenty of outside seating and a coal bbq for sunnier days. Dog friendly but do ask that you inform us at the point of booking. One dog per booking. The cottage is set in the mendips located in a lovely village called Yarley, very close to Wells. The open plan living space is great for families and couples to enjoy time together whilst cooking/ entertaining or relaxing. There is a corner sofa & a relaxing arm chair in the lounge area with a wall mounted television & DVD player, together with a selection of DVDs but also feel free to bring your own! The fully equipped kitchen is home to an Italian coffee machine, microwave, kettle, large fridge/freezer together with facilities to wash & dry your laundry on site, should you wish to! The spiral staircase takes you up to the beamed ceilings, where three further bedrooms are. Two beautifully decorated single bedrooms with wardrobe space , plus a generous and stylish master bedroom , with views across the orchard. The modern bathroom houses a waterfall shower and large bath for those cosy evenings in! parking area suitable for up to 3 cars, ideally 2. Adjoining paddock available for use for exercising dogs, picnics etc. I love to meet and greet our guests where that is possible. I am very happy to offer a no contact check in, if that preferable in the current circumstances. The cottage is situated in a idyllic village, Yarley - just outside of Wells. Perfect for a break away to the beautiful historical city. Cheddar is approximately 10 miles away with a beautiful drive through the countryside, past some excellent local pubs & restaurants. Next door to the cottage, is a local animal sanctuary, PTF Animal Sanctuary. A perfect place to take your little ones to visit the pigs & goats. The historic City of Wells is just a short 45 minute drive from the beautiful City of Bath. The 22 mile route heads over the Mendip Hills and opens up a gateway to the one of England's less explored gems - Somerset. Wells makes an ideal destination for a short break or long weekend and has much to see in it as well as providing an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. Wells is a medieval city nestling on the southern side of the Mendip Hills with the mystic Somerset Levels stretching away to the south and west. The history of Wells goes right back to Roman times when we know that there was a settlement, probably because of the springs that bubble up here. Wells gets its name from these springs which can today be found in the gardens of the Bishop's Palace. Wells is the smallest city in England with about 12,000 inhabitants. It can call itself a city because of the famous 13th century Cathedral. It remains remarkably unspoilt and has many other historic buildings including the moated Bishop's Palace, Vicars' Close, St Cuthbert's Church and a good local museum. The Wells Market Place, with lively markets twice a week, the narrow streets and an eclectic mix of building styles all reflect on the continuing development of the town throughout the ages. Within 25 miles you can visit many attractions which include the famous caves at Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge & Caves, Glastonbury Abbey and Glastonbury Tor, Stourhead, Muchelney Abbey and the Fleet Air Arm Museum. The beautiful variety of landscapes ranging from coastal scenery, the Mendip Hills and Somerset Levels provide a wonderful playground for all sorts of activities including, caving, abseiling, horse riding, walking, cycling and nature watching. It’s a beautiful drive in and around the mendip hills. There is ample parking at the cottage for up to 3 cars (max) A regular bus service runs through the village to wells and surrounding areas. Local taxis are very reliable and easy to book. The Mendip Hills is a very popular destination for walkers and cyclists and there are many beautiful locations for a pleasant cycle or amble around the area. One dog per booking, please do let us know beforehand if you will be bringing a furry friend. Please let us know before your arrival if you require a travel cot or a high chair.
