Contemporary 1850s Farmhouse, Pool & Large Garden
A stylish, open-plan, contemporary barn-style accommodation for up to 8 with swimming pool and a half-acre garden in the idyllic Loir region, just 40 minutes north of La Loire, Tours and only 25 mins from historic Plantagenet city and home of Motorsport, Le Mans. The house is situated in a quiet rural area with views of rolling hills and the Foret du Bercé, a vast Oak forest—with some of the tallest Oak trees in France—as well as numerous mountain bike trails, walks and points of interest. Built around 1850, this open-plan style barn has been converted into a stylish living space for upto three couples, a family of six or even eight using the sofa bed. Complete with fully-fitted kitchen with Gas hobs, Electric Oven, Microwave, Dishwasher and Fridgefreezer. Full Size American Pool table, Dart Board, Outdoor Ping-Pong Table, and other sporting equipment for use in the garden or further afield. Electric Wall Heaters and log burner plus Satellite TV (UK channels only) and a DVD player (with a healthy selection of French Films). Half acre gardens feature 50m2 Swimming Pool with safety Alarm and constant Pump Filtration and constantly maintained PH and Chlorine levels. Short, private road leads to entrance gates and a large gravelled driveway for upto 6 cars. The separate, main house is out of bounds to guests. (UK owners are normally in attendance during the month of August). IMPORTANT: We prefer guests who are relaxed, reasonable and willing to co-exist alongside the discrete, and our reviewers say 'delightful and genuine' owners who may be present (August only) whilst at our property. Ideally, you would be the kind of guest who will appreciate the subtle differences between a family hosting a five star AirBnB listing and corporation running a five star Hilton Hotel. If you are looking for the latter, and are hoping to find one deep in rural France, then we are afraid this is not likely to be the place for you! However, we do try really, really hard to accommodate all reasonable levels of expectation. We urge you to read our reviews and decide if our place 'feels right' for you. If you do choose us, we promise to fully respect your privacy, tranquility and precious vacation time, but we ask you to understand and accept that the garden areas are shared when the owners are at the property (During the month of August), and minor gardening works are possible although rare, (cutting the grass, trimming hedges, etc). If we are present, we are likely to have with us our dog--a cute, friendly female Chihuahua--as well as at least one of our two children aged 16 and 12 (as at 2017). We are open to other dog owners staying at our property but we ask that you understand and accept that their may be a Chihuahua here too! (month of August only). We do hope that sounds reasonable. If it does, we think you'll love it here! We are happy to help in any way if we are present or if not, by phone or email 24/7. We also have friends local to the property (French or English) who would be able to help with any issues. St Vincent du Loroüer is a quiet village in the Sarthe region of France, 55 mins southwest from Paris by TGV (Gare du Mans) or 2 hours 10 mins by road. A population of around 1000 enjoy quiet village life, with Post Office, Local bars and restaurants and Petrol Station. Nearest supermarket is 10 mins away in Grand Luce (Intermarche) with larger supermarkets 10 mins away in La Chartre (Super U) or hypermarkets in Parigne L'Eveque (Super U, 15 mins) or Chateau Du Loir (Vast Super U, 35 mins). Close to the ancient Plantagenet city and legendary motorsport venue of Le Mans and just 45 mins drive from Tours and the Unesco World Heritage site of the Loire Valley, the house is easily accessible from La Havre, Caen or St Malo Ferry terminals (all well within 2.5-3.5 hours drive) or via Eurotunnel which is approximately 4.5 hours away (more like 4 if you are a petrolhead ;-)) Neighbours are sparse, and are French speaking. We have found the local people to be incredibly kind, moral and fair in all of our dealings with them. The clichéd Parisien 'affection' for the English does not apply here! We have built some firm friendships amongst local people over the last 9 years and have a good reputation in the community using local tradesmen for any work on the property. Please be polite and respectful to any neighbours you may meet during your stay so we can keep up the good work – thankyou! Parking is available on site for upto six cars using a secluded, wide gravel drive behind secure gates. The property is set back from a short 200m long single-track road, which joins the D137 at its junction at the top of a gentle hill. Full-size American Pool Table. Dart board and various sporting equipment for use in the garden, including Cricket and Boules. A full size utility room including washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge freezer, sink and second lavatory is provided. Cooking is by Gas Hob, Electric Oven or Microwave. A slim sized Dishwasher is also available for your use. Gas is supplied by small Propane tank adjacent to Barn. Hot Water is supplied by immersion heater. Electricity is mains metered and included in the rental. A Double Sofabed is offered in the lounge for extra guests (more than 6) if required at a small surcharge. Heating is by electric radiators and/or log burner in lounge. Swimming Pool is only available for use from 1 July-30 August (Summer season), and will be uncovered and prepared if in season, ready for your use. A luxury BBQ and a patio furniture set is also supplied, located in the log store, to the left of the main house.
