Stable Cottage is a recently renovated and detached 17th Century cottage located within the garden of an Arts and Crafts family home. Situated in pristine Cotswold countryside with panoramic views and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Perfect for anyone looking to relax, spoil themselves and unwind for a few days in a quiet rural hamlet and really enjoy the very best of a simple and beautiful life. We have really enjoyed AIR BNB as hosts and guests, we aim to please. 750 Sq ft over the two floors with underfloor heating throughout , double glazed windows, reclaimed oak floorboards, stone flags in kitchen. Bespoke fitted kitchen with Neff oven, induction hob, dishwasher, fridge with integral small freezer. Double ended roll-top bath with hand shower, loo and sink. Sitting room with large wood-burning stove and a good supply of dry local wood and kindling. Mod Cons: Smart TV with Netflix. Unlimited WiFi Internet (200Mbps upstream and downstream) SAGE- Nespresso compatible; expresso, capuccino latte machine. Indian fire bowl, BBQ, garden furniture, umbrella, cushions, blankets, 2 bicycles. Private off road gated Parking. Use of 2 garden tables and 4 chairs, 2 sun loungers and a Weber BBQ ready to light. An Indian fire bowl sits on the middle terrace of the garden, just perfect to enjoy the big night sky and stars in front of the fire. Sitting outside day or evening is a peaceful and relaxing way to enjoy our spectacular views and contemplate life. There is nowhere quite like Far Oakridge and all our friends and family continue to be overcome by the woodland and peace of the place. A real tonic in this hectic life. Cleaning is carried out once during your weekly stay ( 7 days and more ) to the highest standards and the garden is fully maintained so watch out for sprinklers and lawnmowers! Drought can cause the lawn to dry but we do our best during very dry summer spells. There is Badminton available on the lower lawn and 2 bicycles for the energetic. Please note- We use the far side of the garden and house during your stay and your only visitor will be the dog doing his rounds. We are super friendly but busy professional people whom carry on with their daily family, business affairs- here if you need us. Most guests enjoy our local knowledge and are keen to tap into a chat here or there, finding us highly agreeable and amusing as a family. Do come and see us and enjoy woodpeckers, kestrels, wrens, deer in the fields below and the abundant bees, butterflies and occasional dragonflies busy pollinating flowers in the garden soon. We live next door in the main house and are always very happy to help you as necessary. We will endeavour to make sure you will not notice us, using our garden on the other side of the main house and so you have all the benefits of our beautiful stylish country home. The garden is landscaped to blend into the countryside views and is a rare escape. Stable Cottage is situated in an extraordinarily peaceful hamlet surrounded by British wildlife. We are 12 minutes to Stroud with it's famous organic market, 15 minutes to Cirencester, 20 minutes to Tetbury and 25 minutes to Cheltenham. Local pubs to stroll to include: The Bell Inn at Sapperton, recently feted for it's food in The Telegraph. The Daneway Inn, a favourite with walkers. The Crown Inn at Frampton Mansell for sundowners and a great sunset. Slightly further is The WoolPack at Slad, which was Laurie Lee's local pub where he wrote "Cider with Rosie" a book about moving to Gloucestershire from London post WW1 and arriving as a small boy with his family and furniture on a horse drawn cart- meeting his first love. The Woolpack is owned and run by sculptor Danny Chadwick and it's the perfect place to sample rural culture and seriously delicious food. Monday night is Chadwick Pizza Oven night. Wonderful local organic food is available at Jolly Nice Farmer's Market on the other side of the Valley. Our village shop and post office 2 minutes by car in Oakridge. There are Waitrose supermarkets in both Stroud and Cirencester 15 minutes by car. Order a fish pie from William's Kitchen in Nailsworth and let the oven do the cooking whilst you sit and relax by the fire. We are surrounded by picturesque woodland and canal walks in a breathtaking AONB and have great cycling routes for those that like a challenging hill or two in the Golden Valleys...alternatively bring some wellington boots and we can tell you of some glorious local walks in every direction around the cottage. Our nearest Railway stations are Kemble and Stroud (both 20 minutes away) with regular services to London Paddington. Joirney time is around 1hr 20 mins. Public transport is limited so a car is key if you want to make the most of the glorious countryside, gardens, villages and sights. The lanes are a bit tight and always an adventure for the uninitiated. Please watch out for foxes, deer, horses and tractors!
