The converted dairy sits within a ninety acre farm, Higher Easthams Farm.The market town of Crewkerne is a pretty, ham stone town that sits in beautiful countryside perfect for all manner of outdoor pursuits. The River Parrett and trail runs through the farm . We are only 30 minutes drive from the world heritage site that is the Jurassic coast, which has the towns of Lyme Regis famous for its fossils and Bridport which are popular for the beach and cafes. Several golf courses are within 30 min We are a working farm and guests are welcome to wander at their leisure. The former dairy is a spacious, open plan detached annexe with its own private entrance and parking. The property has a large kitchen dining area, there is free Wifi, a large living area with smart T.V and comfortable desk space for working. The two bedrooms each have double beds, the larger of the two being Queen size and incorporates an en suite with bath, the second bathroom comprises a shower. Parking is freely available next to the property. Happy to answer any questions or offer local information and direction. If you are not wishing or able to drive, at any time, either before, during or after your stay, then by arrangement we are happy to transport guests no matter how long or short the journey Although being rural and peaceful the farm is actually only a walk or 5 mins drive from Crewkerne. The town boasts Lawrences a well respected antique and furniture auctioneers which run weekly antique and furniture auctions. Viewing Tuesday and auction Wednesday, great fun if you like that kind of thing, there are also occasional more specific sales. There are ten antique shops dotted around the town, an excellent family run butcher, deli, cafes, waitrose, a pharmacy, wine bars, takeaway restaurants and a beautiful church. The medieval town of Sherborne and its Abbey is recommended, Saturday is market day. It’s an easy thirty minute drive. Numerous beautiful country houses and gardens to visit and the beach is a thirty minute drive. If you enjoy a round of golf, there is Cricket St Thomas which is a ten minute drive or Yeovil or Sherborne, twenty and thirty minutes respectively. If you like seaside golf( not links) then Bridport is half an hour south. Parking is not a problem in Crewkerne. If you have no luck in the high st or town square then there is ample parking outside Waitrose and adjoining supermarket. Hang on to some change though, it’s 60p/ hour. We are situated just off the A30. Coming out from the farm turn left and you head for Devon and right for Dorset. If you go north you hit the A303 after 5miles, turn right and it takes you to Salisbury and then on to London, turn left and you get to Taunton and the M5 which will if you turn right take you to Bristol then Wales or up north , turn left for Devon and Cornwall. It really is almost that easy, we are well served with arterial roads that get us good distances in good time. For the beach and Jurassic coast it’s due south for 30 minutes through the pretty town of Beaminster then Bridport. The farm sits on 85 acres of mainly permanent pasture. During the spring and summer we make silage and hay. From October to February sheep graze the land. We have five acres of woodland, which we manage and from where we get timber for fuel. The wood is mostly Ash and Laurel, which supplies cover for deer. Foxes, badgers and rabbits inhabit the ground, woodpeckers ,rooks and squirrel the trees. Owls hoot at night, it’s what owls do. There is a perfect area in the wood where guests are welcome to build a campfire, we do (weather permitting). We have a dachshund dog and a ginger cat.
