Keppochhill
Keppochhill is the perfect balance of peaceful village retreat and central Scotland adventure. The house itself is a carefully curated sanctuary where you can put your cares aside. The village of Banton is the perfect location to relax and enjoy good food, home baking and a warm welcome, whilst the local area beckons you to explore. Renovating Keppochhill has been a 5 year labour of love and we are over the moon to be sharing it with you. The architect-designed transformation of Keppochhill has seen the building emerge from a dark and dilapidated house into a luxurious, carefully curated, light-filled home which celebrates its surroundings and pays homage to the original 1760s cottage. With the help of local artists, each room has been gently themed on a local landmark, inviting you to explore: Keppochhill itself, the village of Banton and the nearby Colzium Lennox Estate, The John Muir Way, Forth and Clyde Canal, Antonine Wall, The Kelpies, The Falkirk Wheel and the Kilsyth and Campsie Hills. Situated in the quiet village of Banton, which is nestled in the Kilsyth hills, you are still just 10 minutes away from the M80/M876 motorways which will take you to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling or further north into the Highlands. Only a stones throw away from Keppochhill is The Swan, Scotland’s first community owned pub, cafe and restaurant. It is newly refurbished and serves excellent food through the day. There is also a well stocked village shop, Banton’s Express and the popular Village Gallery selling local art, gifts, picture framing and weekend home baking! Guests have access to the front garden (with its space for a car to park) and the back patio area and garden, which have been planned and planted by garden designer Tracy Rich. We live in the house right next door and are on hand to make sure everything is as you expect it to be. We’re always happy to have a chat or leave you in peace to enjoy your stay. Banton is a quiet and lovely village where the loudest noises are the birds. ‘The Swan’ pub-restaurant is just across the road (this needs booking in advance at the moment due to COVID so if you want to have breakfast/lunch/dinner or drinks there we’ll give you the details of how to book). The newly refurbished play park, which our kids love, is only a few minutes walk away. As is a small woodland, tennis courts (with payment into an honesty box) and the bowling club. The village shop sells groceries and all of the the essentials. There’s also fantastic walks from the door and the highlights of central Scotland in easy reach. Banton has an hourly bus service most days (linking Falkirk to Glasgow). The nearest train station is Croy (which the bus also stops at). Most guests arrive here by car although a few have cycled or walked up from the Forth & Clyde Canal or John Muir way. There’s lots of walks from the door and around the village which we’re always happy to tell you about. The Wifi is super fast (72Mbps for those who know about these things) and extends throughout the house. Beyond the back garden, a larger area of garden is still being developed (no heavy machinery involved so you won’t be bothered by noise!) Sorry, Keppochhill is not suitable for group bookings.
