Our former wine barn offers a self-catering gîte with a private garden, orchard and beautiful view. Situated in a peaceful and relaxing environment with both nature and culture. It includes a living room with kitchen area, a bathroom, seperate toilet room and upstairs 2 bedrooms. Le Tournesol, a holiday home for 4, is a former wine barn, which has been renovated and now offers a comfortable and relaxing home base from which to explore this unspoilt area of France. Downstairs are the living room, dining/kitchen area, bathroom and toilet. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms, both with 2 single beds. The gîte offers free Wi-Fi, a DVD-player and a CD-player. You will find extensive information on possibilities for hiking and cycling and about the places of interest in the area. A private garden with lawn and flower borders offers a beautiful view of the rolling fields with seasonal crops of wheat, rape seed and sunflowers. You are also free to use our shady orchard or enjoy the silence of a little stream, accessible by a path next to the orchard. Besides the atmosphere of the gite most of our guest like the tranquillity of this hilly area where singing birds and buzzing insects are the only 'disturbers' of this sound of silence. The forest starts only 100 meters from the gite, where you will probably meet deers at sunset. Being your 'neighbours' you can always ask us for information or help. We like to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We can also assist making lunch or dinner reservations. We like to inform you on the hiking and cycling tours we made (they al start at Le Tournesol) and not to forget the day trips you can make by car to various destinations. Bellenaves is situated in the middle of the triangle of Clermont-Ferrand, Vichy and Montlucon. The French call this area 'Le Bourbonnais' as is was the former region of the Dukes of Bourbon. You will find a lot of Bourbon history in the area with Roman churches and castles. Le Bourbonnais is an unspoiled agricultural area, with corn and sunflower fields and meadows with grazing white cows 'the Charolais'. In Bellenaves, 1,5 km from the gite you will find a baker, butcher, supermarket, postoffice, restaurant and bar. On wednesday mornings there is a market, where you can buy vegetables, meat, cheese and regional specilalities. If you are a golf-lover you can go to the 9-hole golf course in Saint-Pourçain, or to the 18-hole courses in the neighbourhoods of Moulins, Montluçon, Clermont-Ferrand and Vichy. You like to canoe? Rent a canoe in Ebreuil, Chouvigny and Menat for a half-day of daytrip on the river Sioule. Fishing is possible in rivers such as the Allier, the Sioule and the Bouble and there are also a number of fish-ponds in the neighbourhood. You will need a permit (permis de pêche), but they are easy to obtain. For wellness (or bien-être) you will find, among others, establishments in Vichy and Neris-les-Bains. Bath-, bed - and kitchen linnen is included.
