Quiet Home on the Mountain

Enjoy stunning ocean and mountain views at our quiet and peaceful vacation property just a 5 minute drive outside of the small village of Povoação on São Miguel. With full access to the property choose to spend your time inside reading a book, or outside taking in the breathtaking views. We've recently refurnished this property to ensure our guests have the most comfortable visit possible. This property has a fully functioning kitchen which includes a full-sized refrigerator, electric stove and oven, microwave, toaster, and kettle. The house is approximately a 5 minute drive outside of the town of Povoação, however the drive up to the house is quite steep, thus making the trip very difficult by foot. Povoação is located on the south-eastern coast of São Miguel island and is approximately 60 km from the airport (PDL). This small, and quiet village is safe, and friendly as well as offering all necessary amenities with a grocery store and wonderful restaurants. Our property also offers visitors easy access (25 minute drive) to the much-visited town of Furnas where you may choose to visit the beautiful Terra Nostra Garden, find a cafe serving freshly baked bolos lêvedos (sweet bread), or relax in the calming hot springs at Poça da Dona Beija. We highly recommend that our guests rent a car for easy access to the whole island. Please be aware that our home is located high on one of the ridges overlooking the ocean, and thus it is quite a steep drive up to the house. Guests that are not comfortable driving a manual car should absolutely rent an automatic, as we understand the steepness may be difficult for some people. Our greatest hope is for you to enjoy this island as much as we do. We would like you to feel at home during your stay and would love your feedback on any improvements we could make.
