We are available at all times to advise on local area, however we aim to give your own space for you to relax in and unwind after a hard day’s work, walking, cycling or whatever floats your boat. Straiton is the idyllic Ayrshire village nestled at the entrance to the Galloway Forest Park. Created as a new model village in 1766 it has barely changed since then and is now an area of heightened conservation, in fact being voted one of the 10 most picturesque villages in Scotland. The great outdoors is on your doorstep with walking, fishing, cycling, (including the world famous 7Stanes), the Southern Uplands, Dark Sky Park ..... and rural tranquility available in bucket loads. The jewel in the crown of the National Trust, Culzean Castle, is a short drive away and a visit to Robert Burns’ cottage is a must. The village boasts a quaint village pub, a tearoom and a community shop. The seaside towns of Ayr and Girvan is a short drive away and the vibrant city of Glasgow is less than an hour away. Public transport is available through the regular local bus service. Old Garden Cottage is best reached by car and this would allow you explore the many gems available locally. We have had many guests cycle to us as part of long distance tours including the End to End, Mogjog or Lejog! Having had over a decade of hosting we are well aware of what is needed to have the perfect getaway or a relaxing stay with just the right amount of interaction.
