Exmoor National Park - This delightful 200 year old detached stone cottage nestles into the hillside overlooking the charming small country town of Dulverton. Offering the best of both worlds, as the comfortable cottage is an excellent base for experiencing & exploring the unspoiled beauty of Exmoor with its wooded combes, open moors and dramatic coastline but with great restaurants, pubs & shops just a short stroll away. Perfect for couples and up to two well behaved dogs are welcome. The Coach House has private off road parking for one vehicle and a small, cottage style, secure garden with seating to make the most of leisurely summer evenings. Our home is cared for by our housekeeper, Tina, who lives nearby and makes sure everything is prepared for our guests and is on hand if needed. Dulverton is known as the gateway to Exmoor National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Dulverton is situated on the southern edge of Exmoor within a deep wooded valley where the river Barle passes through. Just a short 5 minute stroll along a quiet path following the River Barle, brings you to the medieval bridge where the valley broadens near the former workhouse, now the National Park Authority's offices. There is a National Park Centre adjoining the Heritage Centre. The town has much to offer. In addition to numerous cosy pubs, restaurants and cafes, there is also an interesting variety of shops where they claim you can buy virtually anything you could want, from fishing tackle to Exmoor gin, antique books to quality clothes. It is also well served with a butcher’s, greengrocer’s, chemist, post office, newsagents, deli and hardware store. Yet a short walk in almost any direction away from the interesting main street leads you out the most wonderful walks into the surrounding countryside. We are fortunate to have a private parking space next to the cottage so you never need to hunt for somewhere. Dulverton does have several car parks even with EV charging points! Tiverton is the nearest train station and there are rural bus services that run through the village.
