Bramblemoor Cottage

A delightful secluded cottage with one bedroom on the southern slopes of Dartmoor National Park overlooking wooded nature reserve. Ideal walking centre and as a romantic break for couples. The beds are zip and link, either as 2 3ft singles, or as one Super-King size. Change-over days are on Saturdays, due to cleaners availability . The cottage is detached, being situated near to our own, yet completely private with its own entrance. Both cottages set within 3 acres of secluded grounds overlooking the steeply wooded Webburn Valley, a nature reserve (Site of Special Scientific Interest. There are private areas for sitting adjacent to the cottage, and down some steep steps our lawn is available -( we have no time for sitting there).All areas of the garden are freely available. As I am retired and have animals and the garden to look after, I am around most of the time, and will be here to greet you and help you in with your luggage. I will be happy to make suggestions for local walks and other excursions. I am restricted to Saturdays for change-overs as my cleaning helpers are available then. We cannot see or hear another house from here and we are set back off a narrow lane. Within a mile are to be found deep pools for swimming in the River Dart. Excellent riding stables offered on open moorland. This is ideal walking country and various guided walks with National Park guides are available. Ashburton is a delightful small town with an excellent Delicatessan, superb Fish Deli, Artisan Baker and Independent Butcher with locally sourced meats. Public transport is non existent. A hire car would be desirable, although we have arranged to meet people at Newton Abbot Railway station, or from a bus in Ashburton. However, shopping can then be a problem. There is a community shop in Holne,(4 mile walk approx`) or supermarkets will deliver to us. Some people do find our narrow lane somewhat alarming, but soon get used to it. Although the cottage is primarily on one level, there are 2 steps up into the bedroom from the hall. Access to the cottage is down a grassy path which gets a little steeper at the end (Parking 50 yards away) and then the paved area inside the entrance gate has some shallow steps. Sadly,people who have walking difficulties may find our terrain a problem and wouldn't be able to navigate the steep paths and steps in the garden.
