A pretty medieval cottage in Somerset.
Grey Gardens is a compact cottage in Pilton, a quiet village in Somerset. It has a large and airy bedroom, a cosy sitting-room and small kitchen. There is a wood burning stove with free wood, and a central heating system which you have control over. The beds are made with hand ironed 100% cotton linen, and the mattress and feather pillows are top quality. It is attached to the main house but has an entirely separate and private entrance. There is a large area of garden for you to picnic in. The bedroom with its large bath and high ceilings is a lovely space to relax in. If you are looking for a private spot for a romantic break you will not be disappointed. The toilet is hidden behind a partition next to a shower. You have sole access to Grey Gardens, and no-one will disturb you. I live next door. My name is Guy Kennaway. I have lived at Grey Gables for fourteen years & enjoy welcoming, lovely people like you to the village. I am a writer and slacker by profession. Most of the work connected with Air BnB is done by my brilliant colleague, Sandi , who lives 5 minutes away. Pilton is the host village of the Glastonbury Festival, and you can wander onto the site when it is empty and stand under the deserted pyramid stage and imagine you are Bono, if that's the kind of thing that you like. The village is near Glastonbury and Bruton, both either brilliant or annoying depending on your viewpoint. Bruton struggles to be achingly cool, with its contemporary art gallery Hauser and Wirth, and slightly posy restaurants. Glastonbury struggles to string a sentence together it's so stoned, but possesses an undeniable charm and above all is unusual. Actually, there are two good places to eat in Bruton. One is called At the Chapel, run by my friend Cathy. Definitely go there if you can. The Other is Osip. Pricey but classy. It has a cheaper off shoot next door called The Old Ironmonger. Recently good people Rowena and Owen have taken over our local pub, The Crown, but unfortunately it is closed for a full refit until May 2022. There is a good village co-op about ten minutes walk from the house. Our nearest station in Castle Cary. There is another building, out of sight and earshot of Grey Garden which you may also be interested in, either for yourself or friends. It is the Cider House.
