The property is located on Lower Sysladobsis Lake. Dobsis, as it is referred to by locals, is one of many lakes in the western headwaters of the St. Croix River. The lake is approximately 11 miles long and the property is located at the northern end of the lake. A short portage at Dennison Dam puts you into Pocomcus Lake which leads into West Grand and on to Junior, Bottle, Scraggly, Horseshoe and Norway and other smaller lakes. Dobsis is known for its salmon, smallmouth bass, and white perch fishing. Native trout can also be found in brooks and streams throughout the area. Canoe trips can be arranged to do 'The Loop'. 'The Loop' consists of traveling by canoe or kayak through Dobsis, Pocomcus, West Grand, Junior and Bottle Lakes. A minimum of 3 days is recommended with at least two overnights (Guide service available). The area abounds with logging roads and chances to view wildlife such as moose, deer, bear etc. Local Downeast ATV trails within 500 feet of the property. Hunting: Bear, moose, deer, upland game, turkey, etc. Property lies within zone 19 but is readily accessible to zone 11 and many others (Guide service available). Bangor is the closest larger city, with many amenities. Lincoln, while smaller, offers several small restaurants, a local watering hole, and several unique shops. Baxter State Park and the Penobscot River are approximately 1 hours drive to the north. Mountain climbing, rafting, skydiving, hiking and biking are some of the activities available in this area. For winter vacations: Snowmobile ITS 105 is located within 500 feet of the front door! This is a completely stand alone house, we will be there to meet you whenever possible to go over the premises and explain any nuances with each guest. We wish to make your stay as enjoyable as possible without interfering. If you need assistance we are only a phone call away! Bob and Deb are available by phone/text or email. Typically we are not more than 5 minutes away and ready to assist you at any time. We are located “off the beaten path” in a very rural area. You will have the opportunity to explore nature via trails, many lakes, streams and dirt roads. The lake we are located on is one of 10 lakes and ponds in the town of Lakeville! This being said, we are only a little over an hour to a shopping mall, movie theaters and great restaurants in Bangor.
