Stylish, romantic chapel near Frome
"A little piece of heaven on earth…." A quote from a very happy guest. Perfect for romantic breaks with a difference. Close to Frome for the renowned Frome Festival, Stourhead, Longleat, Cheddar, Wells & Bath yet set in beautiful countryside. Delightful private garden. Sleeps two on a large mezzanine overlooking the main room. It is an old Methodist chapel beautifully converted - a calm serene space to chill out, play the piano, read, write, listen to music and walk. There is an open plan kitchen with all the necessary equipment to make lovely food, which we can deliver if needed. The bathroom is modern; has a bath with a shower. For chilly winter days there is underfloor heating. The garden is secluded and has a table and chairs ideal for relaxing and eating in. The chapel in recent years was a studio used as a design studio by the photographer owner Tim Mercer and his partner Helen. Tim's photographs are part of the artwork on the walls in the chapel. The detached chapel and private garden are for guests use entirely. (Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, reading room, utility room). We do not live on the premises - we are two miles away living in our own converted chapel and are always at the end of a phone to help out if and when needed. The neighbourhood is a small hamlet - it is very quiet and peaceful except perhaps at haymaking time when occasional tractors are trundling along the lanes. There is no public transport in Downhead. The nearest bus stop is a mile walk to the main road. Train Station in Frome is 6 miles. Babes in arms welcome too but do let me know if you need any extra baby equipment.
