Waterside, Elmham Watermill, Norfolk

Waterside is a beautiful two bedroom apartment within Elmham Mill on the banks of the River Wensum in mid Norfolk making this a perfect location to explore Norfolk and the Coast. The grounds are a hidden gem completely enclosed and secluded from the outside world and therefore a sanctuary of peace and quiet and a haven for a variety of birds and wildlife including otters, kingfishers and owls. The apartment is on the ground floor with a sitting room leading though to a dining room and a separate fully-equipped kitchen. It has two bedrooms; a double with an en-suite shower room and a twin that can be made into a double if required. The master bedroom leads out to the private south-facing garden and riverbank where you can enjoy the unobstructed views of the rolling water-meadows beyond. The grounds are yours to explore. It’s beautiful along the river and a haven for wildlife and birds. The only private areas are the private gardens at the back of the mill (excluding yours!) and the area to the left of the front door, which belongs to the end apartment. There are many lovely walks in the area and plenty of pubs and restaurants where you can enjoy the local food and hospitality. North Elmham itself is a pretty mid Norfolk village with an interesting historic past. Visit the church or the ruins of the ancient Saxon cathedral. There are two pubs in the village - The Railway Tavern (which is a short walk) and The Kings Arms, but our favourite gastro-pub is The Brisley Bell in the next village of Brisley. It’s very popular so booking is recommended. We also like The Blue Boar in Great Rydburgh There is a village shop for groceries and newspapers. Open until 7pm daily. The Elmham Tea Post is fantastic for lunch and afternoon teas. It is also the village post office. Open Monday to Friday until 4pm and Saturday until 2pm. Fresh Eggs can be found at the farm next door. Just turn left out of the gate and leave your money in the honesty box. The nearest large supermarket, petrol station and and cash-point machine are in Dereham or Fakenham. Algy’s Farm Shop - Manor Farm, Billingford Road, Bintree. – sells all sorts of fresh local produce, fresh meat, eggs, bread, fruit and vegetables. Fresh Fish is available at Willie Westons Fish Stall is in the Village every Monday 9am -12pm There are several lovely walks in the area including Billingford Lakes across the road.
