Restored attractive 2 storey c1900 cottage in the beautiful grounds of Historic Scotland listed Bendameer House. Tastefully decorated, well equipped, comfy beds & quality linen. Extensive gardens & outdoor space - fire pit, barbecue, swings, trampoline & playhouse. The hot tub is adjacent to the cottage with far reaching views. We ask you not to use it after midnight & to follow our instructions carefully. Come, relax and enjoy our amazing views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh. Comfortable, open and flexible space. Lots of outdoor space - huge garden with swings, hot tub (see note above) vegetables, hens etc. Decoration - whites with muted blues and beige. Comfortable and cosy with all familiar home comforts. Down-filled duvets, pillows and cushions (allergy sufferers please request alternative). Fire pit, barbecue and outdoor seating- logs provided. Please note that the bathroom is on the ground floor. Everything, including adjoining woodland. Normally we are at home in the main house. We leave guests in peace, but are very happy if they wish to ask questions or need recommendations. We are delighted if they look round the garden and grounds of Bendameer House. There are often fruits and vegetables to pick. Easter Bendameer has stunning views, wonderful light and the sunshine is warm. (Yes, it IS warmer here, for some reason!). There is always shipping or sailing to watch on the water. The small hamlet of houses at Ninelums (also the name of the bus stop!) is approximately half way between Aberdour and Burntisland. The very local history is interesting with limestone mines and quarries being a source of employment and wealth in the past. There is still evidence of the tramway to the harbour which passed behind the cottage. Bendameer House itself was owned by the Ministry of Defence for approx 100 years and in the past hosted grand house and garden parties. After 6 years of use as a boarding house for a school, it has been slowly restored by the Stevens family since 2002. There are historic castles and churches in Aberdour and Burntisland. There are great walks to the Aberdour beaches, art galleries and super gift shops. Special mention goes to The Aberdour Bakery, McTaggarts Cafe and the wonderful deli and post office "Post and Pantry," all in Aberdour. For fish and chips, other takeaway food, a reasonable co-op and a super indoor swimming and wave pool with flumes, Burntisland is excellent. There are buses every half hour to Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. The bus stop is at the end of our driveway. There is an excellent regular train service to Edinburgh from Aberdour Station 1.5 miles away. Free parking at station. The Fife coastal path is accessible to cyclists and walkers by turning left down a private lane at the end of our driveway. Due to enhanced cleaning regimes it is difficult to allow late check out or early check in. Please note that the hot tub guide in the cottage should be followed in order to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
