Restored train cabin with en-suite bathroom
Medley Meadow is a private glamping experience set in an idyllic spot in the middle of a natural conservation area. Set in 9 acres of meadows with just 3 well-spaced, luxury safari tents and a restored train cabin, you’ll have peaceful days with glorious views of the Monmouthshire countryside and quiet nights under the stars. The meadows have been restored with the help of the Woodland Trust. Enjoy picnics by our 350 year old oak tree, hikes to the hills and nights under the stars. In the midst of nature, it’s nice to have a few (lots of) home comforts. Your cabin has electric lighting, a proper shower and toilet, a double bed and a kitchen/diner. The kitchen area has a fridge with a small freezer compartment and an induction hob, perfect for easy meals and all the bits and bobs you’ll need. Outside there is a dining table for al fresco meals and drinks and a fire pit with grill. The cabin is close to the car park so you won’t need to carry luggage far at all. There are trolleys to help if you need them. Give us a shout if you need a hand. As well as glamping, Medley Meadow is about restoring the natural meadow environment. We have 9 acres of land that the Woodland Trust and Wildlife Trust have helped to restore. We now have kingfishers, herons, foxes, badgers, buzzards, red kites, polecats, eels, water voles and probably many more animals making a home in the meadows. You'll hear our badgers calling to each other in the night and will see our many hundreds of resident rabbits and our very, very friendly magpie. The meadows are waiting to be explored. There is a small brook at the bottom of the meadows and a series of pools and ponds. We try our best to be onsite to welcome our guests and give any hints and tips we can. We are always available to answer questions and are often on or around the meadows. We are located in rural Monmouthshire and have views to the Brecon Beacons National Park. You can take a footpath directly from the site, through the meadows, to The Foxhunter pub in Nant-y-Derry. It’s about a 40 minute walk. The Clytha Arms is a couple of minutes drive away and The Hardwick less than a ten minute drive. All great pubs. The nearest supermarkets are Waitrose and Morrisons in Abergavenny. You’ll find the usual shops and restaurants in the town centre and the markets are on Tuesdays. Heading south, Usk has a small CO-OP and a good coffee shop just next-door. There’s also a Nisa in Raglan. Raglan castle, the Abergavenny canals and the Brecon Beacons National Park are all within 6 or 7 miles. Some great hill walks include Sugar Loaf, The Blorenge, The Skirrid and Pen y Fan (Pen y Fan is about an hour away). The Blaenavon World Heritage Site is a 20 minute drive and some lovely towns and villages include Crickhowell, Brecon, Raglan, Monmouth and Hay on Wye. Let us know if you need any pointers. There are to many walking routes to mention! We are more than happy to send you advice on email or chat with you on arrival. It’s about a 10 second walk from the car park to the cabin. There are trolleys to help with luggage. Give us a shout if you need a hand. We are very dog friendly, but please keep those mutts off the furniture. We do ask that dogs are kept under control and are not allowed to go in the large pond as we are restoring the water wildlife here, but we’re sure a few sips of water won’t hurt!
