Carriage House Bed and Breakfast

Hello! Welcome to the Carriage House room at our home in beautiful Sand Coulee, Montana, just 15 minutes to Great Falls. Country living and home cooked breakfast upon request! Enjoy a large upstairs room full of light and views of horses, bluffs and trees. A private stairway separates it from the rest of the house. A common area downstairs includes exercise equipment, piano, a cozy fireplace, desk, and a sofa. Enjoy skies full of stars in the evening, and the occasional coyote on the rimrock. We are a busy family with 4 young kids and lots of love for the outdoors, music, and family. Don't worry, the house is large and you won't hear us! We have lots going on, and will stay out of your way. For long term stays, our room is ideal for one or two people. For short term, more people can be accommodated, contact us for more info. Pets are allowed on a limited pre-approval basis- they must be well behaved and house trained. We may request an additional cleaning fee after your stay if the room is particularly hairy or dirty. Guests may use their private bedroom and bathroom as well as the shared music/exercise room downstairs with the fireplace. The front porch and back patio are a lovely place to hang out, as well as the yard. A walking trail down the old railroad grade next to the creek leads from the bridge in the backyard. Guests may pet/interact with all the animals- please ask before going into a pen. Guests may feed the horse apples and carrots. Minimal. We will be here most of the time to check you in and out, but also provide for self check-in/check-out if we are not at home. Sand Coulee is a small rural town on the outskirts of Great Falls, Mt. The closest grocery store is the Fireweed Mercantile, located 3/4 mile away at the Y in the road, next to the Tracy Bar. This is a great place to walk to on a nice day. They also have free coffee/tea and WIFI. Hours are Tuesday-Friday noon to 7 pm, and Saturday noon to 5 pm. The closest food is 3/4 of a mile away at the Tracy bar, one mile away at the Centerville Bar(recommended), or 4 miles away at the American Bar in Stockett(highly recommended). The Little Belt mountains are close drive away. The Highwood Mountains, a central Montana island range, are also within an hour drive, and a wonderful place to hike and fish. Drive, bike, or take a refreshing walk. An old railroad grade runs just behind the house along the creek and is great for a walk to nearby Tracy. Traces of Sand Coulee's coal mine history can be seen in old mine shafts along hillsides, and minerals coloring the creek bed. ***Since COVID and other life changes, we are no longer serving breakfast on a regular basis. We can certainly cook for you every once in a while, but please talk to us to make sure it is an option. Home cooked breakfast (eggs, toast, veggie fry-up, pancakes, sausage, etc) is an additional $6 per person (kids are free) and will be served downstairs. A fridge and microwave in the room is set up for you to provide your own food options. If we are away or otherwise unable to cook for you, cold breakfast or microwave breakfast options are available in your room. Please let us know about any food allergies or dietary restrictions so that we can make your stay as pleasant as possible! Please be aware that we use the music room occasionally for teaching lessons and practicing during the day.
