A home from home in the Fife countryside and only a few minutes' walk from the seashore. No 2 Stable Yard is an attractive, bright and comfortable cottage in a newly renovated stable conversion; a peaceful rural retreat at the historic Wemyss Castle Estate. Perfectly placed for exploring Scotland it suits families, couples & groups of friends looking for a cosy getaway. 30 miles from Edinburgh, a short drive to the East Neuk and St Andrews with numerous golf courses and lots more in between. Ground floor: Spacious hallway with plenty of space for coats, wellies and golf clubs. Well-equipped to make the most of the fantastic local ingredients. You'll find everything you need to cook up shellfish or bake a cake. A washing machine is located in the kitchen, perfect for returning home with a suitcase of clean clothes. The homely living room has a beautiful oak dining table as well as plenty of comfortable seating, TV, digital radio with bluetooth conection, and board games. A large family bathroom has a bath with shower overhead. First floor: Two generous-sized bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and the second with two singles. The twin room can be made up as a superking bed on request. Outdoor area: At the back of the property is an enclosed area with a picnic bench and BBQ. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay at the cottage for a £25 supplement, payable during your stay. As there are livestock around we kindly ask that dogs are kept on a lead on the estate. However, the coastal path is a short walk away with plenty of space for your furry friends to run free. There is parking for two cars immediately outside the front door. You will have full use of the cottage and outside seating area for the duration of your stay. Wemyss Castle itself and its surrounding area is a private family home and not open to the public. On arrival you'll receive a map of the estate indicating which parts are private and where you are free to explore. There is a great view of the castle from the shore. Wemyss Castle Gardens are open by appointment on weekdays from May to the end of July. Please let me know in advance if you would like to organise a visit during your stay. I'll leave you in peace to enjoy your holiday but I work on the estate on weekdays so am usually around if you need me and always at the end of a telephone. Wemyss Castle Estate is a working farm and a haven for wildlife. You'll have exclusive pedestrian access to Fife's Coastal Path where seals and birds are regular visitors. Just along the coast at East Wemyss are the Wemyss caves which house some of Scotland’s oldest known Pictish carvings. The East Neuk villages are nearby for sandy beaches, sampling seafood and whisky and, of course, many golf courses. Edinburgh airport is approx 35 mins drive from the Stable Yard. There is a train station in nearby Kirkcaldy (4 miles) with frequent services to Dundee and Edinburgh as well as a direct service to London. A bus stop at the top of the drive takes you to Edinburgh and further east in the directions of St Andrews. Wemyss is a working estate so there may be occasional farm and estate vehicles passing the steading during the day.
