Private studio for 1-4 people in "Albergo del Vino" - a renovated "Cascina" (wine farm). Includes a small kitchen with utilities, and a bathroom with shower. Incredible views of the landscape from the room facing a lovely garden with a patio and pool (shared with other guests). The apt. has classic furniture, combining the 17th century style of the old farm and a modern touch. Albergo del Vino is perfectly located, in the heart of Piedmont, and offers everything necessary for a perfect vacation experience. Here, you can enjoy lazy days in the sunny Italian countryside, go on gourmet and wine excursions - for example with wine tastings at local producers - or have an Aperol Spritz in the shade at the local cafe. The house is perched on a hiltop with magnificent views of the landscape. The apartment is just outside (5 minute walk) the small village of Castelnuovo Calcea: A charming hilltop village with a great restaurant (Il Boschetto di Vignole) and wonderful views of the landscape below. The neighboring village of Agliano Terme is within walking distance, and includes several good restaurants and cafes. Gourmet and wine destinations such as Barbaresco, Neive and Canelli (the closest city), are just a short drive from the house. We welcome you to a stay in the heart of Piedmont's best area for food and wine. The apartments are just a short drive away from wine-capitals such as Barbaresco and Barolo, and food destinations such as Nizza and Canelli. Guests will have full access to the apartment, with all including amenities. Guests will also have access to the patio and garden. The patio includes a seating area where guests can enjoy meals and relax outside. The swimming pool is 8,6X3,6 meters (1,5 meters deep), and is available for all guests all day long. In the garden we have a setup for barbecues and cooking. Each apartment has available parking space for guests right by the house. We have had the house and lived in the area since 2012. We will also be very happy to provide tips and suggestions for places to visit and dine. The immediate neighbourhood is the village of Castelnuovo Calcea, a small but very charming medieval village with a castle, a top restaurant, a bar/cafe, and warm and welcoming villagers. The surrounding area is dominated by wine-farming. Right by Albergo del Vino are several local wine producers (big and small) with focus on production of grapes such as Barbera and Dolcetto. Castelnuovo Calcea belongs to Asti district. Asti is one of the best wine producers in the world, and is home to famous wines such as Asti Spumante DOCG and Barbera d'Asti Superiore, which are exported and sold around the world. Asti is one of Europe's preeminent gourmet destinations, and has a storied and rich gastronomy tradition. It is a wonderland for foodies! Asti has a beautiful natural scenery, with hills, rivers and green valleys, and includes several national parks (such as Rochetta Tanaro). This pretty landscape is dotted with charming medieval villages and towns such as Canelli, Nizza Monferrato and San Damiano d'Asti, as well as medieval castles such as Moncalvo, Roccaverano and Costigliole. In the town of Asti, one finds a medieval old town, which testifies to Asti's time as an independent medieval commune in the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries. Our place is 1,5 hours drive from Milano Malpensa or Milano Linate airports. It is a 1 hour drive from Torino airport, and 2 hours from Bergamo airport. A particularly nice way to get to Castelnuovo Calcea (if you are planning a longer multi-day trip), is to drive all the way from the French riviera (Cote d'Azur), along the Ligurian coast (with stops in beautiful places like Genoa), and then the scenic route into Alba and Asti. The best way to get around is by car or bicycle. If you want to go to the closest cities like Canelli and Nizza or little further to Barbaresco and Barolo without a car, we can assist guests with arranging transport (but no guarantees that we can provide this).
