Sunny, private apartment in historic neighborhood

Located in Historic Hyattsville, the apartment was a recent addition to our historic craftsman bungalow. Within minutes from University of MD, Catholic University and the Washington DC border, the apartment is quiet, cozy and very sunny with a private entrance as well as French doors leading out to a private patio. Located in a safe, family-friendly neighborhood with tree-lined streets, within walking distance to restaurants, yoga studios, coffee shops and an organic coop. The apartment is charming, cozy, very sunny with large, energy-efficient windows, and tastefully decorated with art and photography from around the world. There is a private entrance off the driveway, as well as French doors leading out to a private patio with a BBQ grill and large back yard with fire pit for your use. The kitchenette in the family room is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, convection oven, hot plate, sink, cabinets, and tea and coffee-maker. There is a sleeper sofa that fits two children or one adult comfortably, a Greek-tiled table and a flat-screen TV with DVD player and several DVDs for you to watch during your stay. The bed in the bedroom is super comfortable with a queen-sized Tempur-pedic mattress that conforms to your body. There is a dresser and plenty of closet space to store suitcases and your personal items. The bathroom is fully-equipped with towels, shampoo/conditioner and a hairdryer. There is also an iron/ironing board located in the closet. You will have access to the entire apartment via a private entrance. We will provide you with the door code and also a key to use during your stay. We can interact as much or as little as you like. Although Julia travels frequently for work, Mark is around most evenings to welcome you. We are very social and are always happy to share a glass of wine or cup of tea when we're around if you like, however we also respect our guests privacy. The apartment is in a quiet, tree-lined historic district filled with 100+ year old craftsmen bungalows and Victorians and a great community vibe only 2 miles from the DC border. Our town's motto is "a world within walking distance" and we are approximately a 5 minute walk to Arts District Hyattsville with many restaurants (Busboys & Poets, Franklin's Restaurant and Brewery, Tara Thai, Spice Six, Elevation Burger as well as several ethnic restaurants), a great coffee shop, several yoga studios and shops and an organic food coop. There is a weekly farmers market open Thursday's year round less than a mile away. There are also several large grocery stores close by, including Whole Foods which just opened in April 2017. The Mall at Prince George's Plaza with Target, Macy's, Marshall's and many other shops is one mile away. We are centrally-located inside the Beltway approximately 20-30 minutes via metro or car to downtown Washington DC and to the monuments, museums and other touristy sites. The closest metro is less than a mile away (approx. 15 minute walk) at Prince George's Plaza on the green and yellow line. The Yellow line runs directly to Reagan National Airport (during peak hours only) for easy access. There is a bus stop one block away that goes to the metro, College Park and other nearby towns. There are also free shuttle buses to University of Maryland campus, which is less than a 5 minute drive. We are about a 10 minute drive from Interstate 295 (BW Parkway), the Beltway, and 95 for easy access to Baltimore and Virginia. BWI airport is a 30-45 minute drive and Dulles airport is approximately 1 hour drive, depending on traffic. East-West Highway (Route 410) is a few blocks away for direct access to the neighboring towns of Takoma Park, Silver Spring and Bethesda. Our guests health and safety are a priority for us. We are complying with all Covid-19 cleaning and sanitizing recommendations and assure you that all surfaces will be properly disinfected and sanitized and the apartment aired out between guests. Also, we have 2 cats in the main house, however the apartment is pet-free to accommodate guests with allergies. We welcome children of all ages but please note that we do not provide bedding for infants.
