The West Wing Suite - Ashlack Hall
Ashlack Hall lies at the head of a valley, which runs westward to the Duddon Estuary in south west Cumbria. This grade 2 listed Manor House was built in the 17th century and underwent massive restorations throughout the 1990s. We are currently working to modernise the house and surrounding estate, making it a haven for those interested in alternative living and nature reconnection, whilst retaining its eccentricity and old-world charm. Lightly influenced by the Sistine Chapel, the West Wing Suite is a distinctive & eccentric room. A private living area, work space & ensuite sits on the lower floor with the bedroom on a mezzanine, framed by beautiful statues, portraits & paintings. Included in your stay is access to: • The Breakfast Room: the perfect room for a cosy night by the fire. • The Drawing Room: an awe inspiring converted barn, perfect for reading, having an evening drink with your partner or using any of our musical instruments. • The BBQ House: a purpose built outside dining space covered in Indian Karma Sutra carvings • The Walled Garden: a beautiful Victorian walled garden and greenhouse with an abundance of organically grown vegetables • The Dining Hall: inspired by a naive wall painting at Otley Old Hall, this is where we host evening meals would you decide to dine with us during your stay We live in the house alongside guests so will be available to answer any questions and recommend places to visit. Both as experienced chefs, we are available to book breakfast, a packed picnic lunch and dinner upon request at an additional cost. Close to the market towns of Ulverston and Broughton in Furness, Ashlack Hall is a 17th Century Manor House surrounded by farmland, mountains and beautiful views of the Duddon Estuary. You can walk straight from the door through the fields and up onto the Fell. Coniston is a 10 minute drive and Windermere, with all its attractions, just 25 minutes. There are many good local pubs within a 5 mile radius. We recommend those staying at Ashlack ensure they have access to a vehicle as the public transport links to local attractions are rather poor. That being said, there is plenty of land to explore from the house. If you feel you don't need to stray too far from the estate, we are happy to provide transport to local airports and train stations at an additional cost.
