Olinda Yarra Cottage & Farmstay experience

Welcome to Olinda Yarra, a family owned and managed heritage cattle farm offering the gorgeous Olinda Yarra Cottage for a unique farm stay experience. Enjoy the very spacious and private cottage including two bedrooms, two lounge rooms, kitchen, bathroom and spa bath with full laundry facilities. Get up close and personal with our very cute farm animals, collect the chicken & duck eggs, explore acres of century old gardens and heritage or just relax and breathe in that fresh country air. A little bit of history - Olinda Yarra is one of the oldest properties in the Yarra Valley, est. 1868 and was the most innovative dairy farm of its time. Also renown for being home to the few remaining wooden railway bridges and spanning over a thousand acres. Our gardens are quite unique being designed by William Guilfoyle in the late 1800's, who was also the creator of the Melbourne botanical gardens. The cottage itself used to be the workers cottage and has been renovated in recent times. It is an L shape with two separate wings each offering their own lounge and bedroom. Both wings meet up to the kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities. The first wing has a large King Bedroom sleeping two guests with a gorgeous fireplace lounge including a relaxing day bed with windows that offer star gazing at night. The second wing is more family or group orientated with the bedroom offering a king bed and single bunk beds sleeping 4 guests. There is a smart tv with netflix and a corner office desk complete with wifi. Being at the start of the Yarra Valley we are close to all the Valley has to offer. Guests have access to areas surrounding the cottage and can explore the Homestead gardens. There is a map provided on arrival with various walks and permissible areas around the property. The cottage resides on our property and we are available all the time. We are within a few minutes drive of many reputable wineries like Yering Station, Coombes, Stones and Meletos, Chandon, De Bortoli, Rochford and local attractions like the Gateway farm produce and cafe, the Chocolaterie and Healesville Sanctuary. We are also very close to the Yering Meadows and Eastern Golf Clubs, and Lilydale/Yarra Valley Airport for sky diving or charter plane flights. We are a 45 minute drive from Melbourne's CBD and the closest township is Yarra Glen being only 5 minutes drive away with many restaurants, an IGA grocery store and various shops including the popular antique and clothing stores. The larger suburb of Lilydale and the Lilydale train station is ten minutes drive with Ubers and taxis easily accessible to and from the cottage. We are near the intersection of Melba Highway and MacIntyre Lane, second driveway from the end and corner of this intersection. On the other side of us is the Lilydale/Yarra Valley Airport. You will notice large stone pillars and a green gate with green letterbox and an A-Frame sign out the front “Olinda Yarra”. Make your way along our 350 metre long driveway, through a second gate with another Olinda Yarra sign. Just after this is a fork, turn left at the fork following the “Cottage” sign and you will see the Cottage on the right opposite our Stables and Barn courtyard. Proceed past the cottage following the “Cottage Parking” signs to the rear of the Stables building and round concrete silos. Parking is behind the Stables in the signed areas opposite the Cottage.
