At the end of the alley, Medina of Tunis
Comfortable, cosy and quiet room, opening on an internal flowery patio, within a traditional Dar, restored with attention to details and in accordance with the traditional style of the Medina of Tunis (the old town) The generous breakfast is an ideal occasion to know each other and have a chat. Our guests are welcomed to our home. The room is furnished with a double bed canopy, with a lounge area where the bench can serve as a supplementary bed for a potential third guest. Our breakfasts, which are varied and typically Tunisian are served by us, and this is an opportunity for interesting cultural exchange. It may happen to extend this exchange over a cup of tea or a drink in the private area of the house. The room is heated and air-conditioned, and disposes of a private shower, WC and WIFI. In addition to their room with its private bathroom, our guests can use the beautiful patio (where they can smoke a cigarette) with its confortable sofas as well as the common dining room adjacent to the kitchen. Though hosted in our family home, the guests benefit from real independence! Bab Lakwas, where our house is located, is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the Medina of Tunis. Markets, crafts, cafés, small restaurants, and living spaces are all nearby. In this neighborhood, we find The Halfaouine square, built in Italian style, the big Sahib Ettabaa Mosque, a colorful market, the Sidi Shiha mausoleum, Kharnadare Palace, which is the current national theatre....... Historically, the neighbourhood has always been rebellious. Several revolts started from there. Indeed, it was in Bab Swika that Saint Sidi Mehriz, the patron saint of Tunis, led the resistance against the Chiite Dynasty in the 11th century. It was also in this area that the resistance to Charles V Invincible Armada took place in the 16th century. Our place is easily accessible on foot, by car or tramway and is at walking distance from the traditional souks (markets ) and the Kasba. It is only 20 minutes from downtown.
