Sleep 6 Glamping 7m bell tent log burner (2)
A small rural campsite we offer up to 8 glamping units dependant on season and 6 EHU points on the main site. In July and August weekends we also open the hay field for campers without electric hookup and often there is a singing round a firepit We are a basic bohemian rural site used often as a base to explore Wiltshire Somerset and Dorset. Great views, country air, sunsets and Campfire’s are the order of the day at Sunnyhill. In the middle of nowhere but not far from anywhere In days of yore, Wincanton was often used as a stopover town where folks would change horses, eat, drink and rest on their journeys between London and South West England. These days the Somerset town is an equally convenient stopping point, close to the A303 and roughly halfway between London and Exeter. The folks at Sunnyhill Park and Campsite are keen to uphold this tradition; their family’s been at this farm in Riding Gate (five minutes from Wincanton) for generations. Decent slumbers should be on the cards at the peaceful pitches, and there are free hot showers and firepits on site (and a supply of logs for sale to keep the flames crackling). Eats can be acquired at nearby takeaways, restaurants, cafés and country pubs, and it’s less than a mile to the nearest pub for your evening pint(s). No promises on the fresh horses front though – they do have horses here (along with sheep, goats and chickens) but the owners would rather you leave them where you find them. A mighty handy stopover it may be, but it’s also a fine place in its own right if you’ve got more time on your hands. Spend your Wincanton days cheering on the horses at the racecourse, visiting the Discworld Emporium or truffling out the tributes to Sir Terry Pratchett around the town centre. For more days out, Glastonbury, Longleat and Stonehenge are all within a 45-minute drive. There is a fabulous view where she is placed and you can use my fire pits outside and buy logs from me on site. We have Dogs cats chickens etc on site please be aware The shower block is shared with two men's and two ladies Showers and toilets a kitchen area for washing up, extra loos for peak season I am nearly always on site as I live here. I also have help from friends and Tennant's as well as my daughter, so there is always someone around. I try to leave people in peace but we are available if you need us with a mobile number for you to call A very rural location walking camp fires and toasting marshmallows are the order of the day. Not to far from anywhere in the s/w so an ideal base to explore somerset dorset and Wiltshire or stopover in your way to Cornwall devon or back to the big smoke Unless you are a keen walker or cyclist its definatly a car here no public transport but a helpful local taxi driver if there are high winds the log burner inside is not to be used
