Our guest house is named "Riverside Bahay" translating to house by the river in Tagalog (Philippine National language). Our guest house is located on a quiet street behind the host house, surrounded by a colorful garden, accessed through a side gate along host home. Our guest house features warm oriental themed decor with dimming lights, a private bathroom, air conditioning unit, kitchenette with a small bench stove top, and a private outdoor table and 2 chairs to enjoy a bite or beverage. Tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk provided. In kitchenette, two burner induction cook top for use, as well as microwave, toaster, electric jug, and coffee plunger. We also have a barbecue on site for use. We will be available by text, phone or email and occasionally on site for any questions. Our place is in a good central location between Whakatane township and "The Hub" Shopping Centre, also nearby is Kopeopeo where there is a Pak n Save grocery center, a fresh market selling fresh produce and cold pressed juice's and smoothies, as well a few other small food stores. Access to the walk / cycle-way along the river bank is only 50 meters from our place and is a nice relaxing walk. Dotted along the way are children's parks, a camp ground and small rose garden. Upon reaching town there is the Whakatane library that exhibits some of our towns history as well as a New World Grocery next door. Via the "Warren Cole" Riverside Walkway, it is approximately 15 minutes walk to the Hub across the main bridge, 20 minutes to the township, and 25 minutes to the information center where buses can be caught to Ohope Beach and back. Whakatane's iconic spot known as the "The Heads" (where the River meets the ocean), can be reached by walking approx. 30 min. There "Heads" is a significant area in respect to local Maori culture and it is also a popular local spot for fishing, surfing and general sightseeing. Along the way is the Whakatane Fishing Club and boat docks. Driving, it only takes 5 minutes or less to the Hub, Kopeopeo and township, 10 minutes to the "Heads", Ohope Beach and Coastland's beach.
