Private home in Mokena with dogs - Room 1
We offer 2 separate private rooms (please visit Private home in Mokena with dogs - Room 2 to book both rooms) with shared bathroom in the third oldest home in Mokena, a quaint town built around the railroad to the west. Easy access to major highways and walking distance to the Metra into Chicago. Parking on site and on the street. Police station is one block away should you have safety concerns. Its an ideal location for traveling hospital staff, those on internship and more than just traveling. The house is 164 years old, and has had many updates over the years. It's comfortable, a little squeaky, filled with lots of eclectic memorabilia, ethnic musical instruments, books to read, yoga mats and more to exercise on, a few meditation spots in the garden, and an outdoor fireplace to use when nights are warm and inviting for a 'smores or two! Guests may have access to all areas of the house on request. The kitchen is always open for tea or coffee, and we love to share meals and friendship around the table. Always happy to share Chicagoland's best, we enjoy conversation, breakfast as preferred and a relaxed atmosphere. I truly enjoy the contact and conversations that come with having house guests. I am here to interact, share and learn all I can in as many ways as you, the guest, would like to take part in. Some of the best conversations come around a table with a cup of coffee or a late libation in the evening. Originally built along the railroad going west and not as a farming community, Mokena is a small town with a lot of local history. We are close to Route 66 and the main road to the south, Route 30 or Lincoln Highway, is the original road from New York to Los Angeles. The town boasts two train stations to take visitors to Chicago. There are great walks all over the area, and some super forest preserves to go on hikes through. The Plank Trail is a 30 mile walking/biking/running path from Matteson to Joliet through some great neighborhoods. There is no public transport around the village - the USA was built around the automobile after all! Lyfts By Linda has supported many of my guests, and Uber is always a short drive away. There are two Metra stations (the in town location is but a 4 block walk) that can get visitors to Chicago in approximately 50 minutes. A comfortable and easy way to travel through some backyards to the city. Beau will greet you with a lot of noise on arrival, even if you just went for a run. He loves a walk, a ball thrown, or, as he is older, just to sit with you and enjoy your company. The neighbors are friendly. Often popping in with their dogs, and love to visit with my guests feeling they've also traveled a bit...
