Rustic, renovated cottage with stunning views
Apu Murpu is a rustic, character-filled renovated cottage, set high on a hill looking across the upper Flagstone Creek valley. A fully equipped home with no close neighbours. It is cool in summer with fans, French doors and aircon; and the indoor fireplace ensures it is warm and cosy in winter. Enjoy a glass of wine on the deck, toast marshmallows in the outside firepit, and watch the bush turkeys roosting in the early evening. The perfect place to switch off from the world and relax in nature. There is a queen bed in bedroom 1, two single beds in bedroom 2 ; and a smaller sized cot in bedroom 3. The fourth room is a reading room. There is an ageing but functional BBQ on the back patio. Also outside is a firepit, and a sandpit for kids. Please note the sealed driveway is steep and narrow, but safe in all conditions. We recommend arriving in the daytime so you don't have to navigate it for the first time in the dark. Room for two cars undercover. You will have the cottage to yourself, but you will have phone numbers to ring us if needed. Unfortunately mobile reception is poor but texting usually works. Set along Flagstone Creek road Apu Murpu is only 15 minutes from Toowoomba. There is a great coffee and eating place, "The Barn" only 5 minutes away. There is also a great bushwalk up to Gorman’s Gap only a 5 minute drive away. With no Wi-Fi and poor mobile coverage, take advantage of the chance to leave your phone and computer off and have a complete break. You will need a car. Please no smoking in or around the house. It is a special place. Due to a local ‘black hole’ there is no wifi and no mobile internet available, however guests have valued being able to be free of technology shackles for a few days. Generally texting will work from some areas of the house (the kitchen is best). Our property fully relies on a limited supply of tank water. Depending on the time of year you wish to book, and the water situation at that current time, we may need to ask you to conserve your water use in various ways, such as not using the bath or washing machine etc. If this is a concern or deal-breaker for you, please feel free to have a chat with us about it before booking. Drinking water - there is a water filter in the kitchen which is filled with rainwater from the tap. This is what we drink, however if you prefer not to drink rainwater you are welcome to bring your own bottled water. When booking our property please take care to ensure you have booked for the correct number of guests. Beds will only be made up for the number of guests booked. Additionally, there is a small extra linen charge for extra beds used above the queen bed. Namely, 1-2 people are the same price if only 1 bed is required, but if 2 beds are required for 2 people there is an additional cost. Please let us know at the time of your booking if you have any particular bedding requirements so we can be sure to accommodate you the best we can. Well-behaved dogs are welcome inside or outside, but please not on the furniture or rugs. Be aware that there may be ticks in the nearby bush, and although the yard is fully fenced, small Houdini escapologist dogs may find a way out under the house.
