On Newell Beach: Great Location, Great Rates

** Great discounts for longer stays ** Newell is 5 minutes from Mossman & 20 mins from Port Douglas. It is a quiet rural beach suburb, idea for spending a few days or longer relaxing. Offers great fishing. The apartment might not be modern but it is clean, tidy, comfortable & has everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. The apartment block backs onto the beach. Mossman offers a big supermarket, family restaurants, cafes, pubs & takeaways. Port Douglas is 20 mins. south. The apartment block is a 2 story construction, typical of Australia in the 1980s. Though cared for, it shows its age in places. Expect to find some wear and tear, typical for a property of this age. There are only 5 units in the block. While the space is not modern, it is well appointed and has everything you will need for couple of week stay by the beach. The lounge and kitchen is an open plan space and quite generous in size. The kitchen table seats four. The washing machine and tumble drier are located in one corner of the kitchen. The unit is fully air-conditioned. The lounge area is made up of a two seat sofa, two single chairs & various side tables. The TV offers free to air and well as Netflix, YouTube etc. - you just need to supply the Wi-Fi from you phone (it's easier than it sounds). There is a table and chairs set on the patio - a great place to have drink and watch the sunset over the hills. The 2 bedrooms are generously sized, one with a Queen bed, one with a Double. Both have wardrobes. Note: The bedrooms are naturally cool & have their own air-conditioning. There are ceiling fans. The bathroom offers a shower big enough for two, vanity and toilet. You have complete exclusive use of the apartment. You are welcome to use the pool and other shared areas of the property (cloths lines etc.). The grass between the block and the beach is a great place for a picnic or for kids to play. The host lives nearby but not on the premise. Newell is in a good central location for seeing the various sites in the region, with the tourist hub of Port Douglas and the natural wonders of the Mossman Gorge to the south and the Daintree rainforest and Cape Tribulation to the north. And lets not forget, half an hour up the mountain range from Mossman to the tablelands - which is always a few degrees cooler. Visiting the Highlander Tavern in Julatten for lunch is a great thing to do in hot weather. Newell Beach is a small and quite rural suburb surrounded by farming land. Two people on the beach is a busy day. It is the sort of place that kids happily ride bikes and play in the playground, without having to worry about traffic or strangers. The suburb is made up of a mix of holiday homes and friendly locals. The Cafe / Shop is surprisingly good - both for coffee, snacks, meals and essential groceries. The Mossman Golf Club offers 18 well maintained holes and is barely 5 mins away. Green Fees apply but visitors are welcome. The club house is licensed and is open most days and some nights. You will need a car. There is no public transport. Taxi's are based in Mossman. There is great Telstra mobile phone coverage (4 of 5 bars). So mobile phones can be easily used as Wi-Fi hotspots for tablets or computers. No Wi-Fi is provided. The pool is available to use.
