Black Estate Winery B & B

A beautiful studio B & B at Black Estate's organic vineyard. Located on the ground floor of an architecturally designed building which also houses a lunch time restaurant featuring local and organic produce (Cuisine Winery Restaurant of the Year 2017). The views are vast, expanding from the Home vineyard to the majestic Southern Alps. Complimentary light breakfast provisions are supplied and a takeaway meal can be ordered on the day you arrive. We're happy to accommodate dietary requirements. Outrageously beautiful North Canterbury views, well-designed furniture, premium linens, Bluetooth stereo and mini bar ensure your stay is a fine one. The guesthouse is tucked away from diners and the garden is for your own use & privacy. This is a working organic vineyard so expect to see friendly staff, tractors and a friendly dog (Steve) out in the vineyard. The cellar door & restaurant close each day at 5pm. There is a convection oven and kettle in the room with a BBQ grill on the patio, but not a full kitchenette. The ensuite is fitted with a shower, locally made Studio Star soaps and Sans beauty products. You have the place & sunset to yourselves each night. The property is located at the head of the regional vineyard bike trail and the B&B comes with complementary bikes. Guests can enjoy a number of activities in the surroundings including cycling, fishing, hiking, surfing, and winery tours. You have the guesthouse and garden to yourselves with separate access. You are welcome to walk the vineyard, neighbouring Waipara Vineyard Trail and hike the hill behind us. You are also welcome in the cellar door & restaurant for tastings & lunch and for questions or a chat any time. There is a mini-bar provided and we will ask for your credit card details when you arrive so that we can charge for any items used. If you arrive after 5pm, let us know so we can give you check-in information! Staff in the restaurant are there to help you with questions about your stay, lunch reservations, the region and things to do. (930am - 5pm). The owners are available on their cell phones for emergencies in the evening and live close by. Waipara Valley is part of the North Canterbury wine region renowned for small & premium wine producers and great food. Waipara Valley is 50 minutes north of Christchurch and 50 minutes south east of Hanmer Springs. It's a beautiful region with rivers, rolling hills and mountains. There is much to do like wine tasting in the region, walking or cycling the Waipara Vineyard Trail which starts at Black Estate, fishing, hiking, beach & river swimming, surfing, or activities and festivals like the North Canterbury Wine & Food, the Canterbury Truffle Festival and Art in a Garden. There is one park allocated for guests. Please note that the car park, close to the building, can get busy in weekends and summer (until closing at 5pm each day). This should not impact your stay but we do wish to note it. We purposefully don't have a TV... but there is wifi if you wish to watch anything with your own devices and play music using the Cambridge speaker. Use of items in our mini bar can be charged to your card. Takeaway meals available if ordered ahead. The BBQ, toaster, kettle and small oven are there for your use but are not extensive!
