Within a 2 mile radius there are two top class restaurants , one of which, the Cross Keys in Ancrum sells its own locally brewed Ale. For the greenfingered there is also the Woodside plant centre and café., not to mention Monteviot House and Gardens which is open for viewing during the summer months. For walkers, theres a lot of choice, directly from the door there`s an easy amble up Penial Heugh and down to the river and for the more adventurous the St Cuthbert's Way passes by within a mile of the cottage. The Scottish Borders is famed for its fishing, golf and cycling opportunities, with the nearby abbey towns of Jedburgh, Kelso and Melrose well worth exploring ! Private secluded accommodation in stunning countryside. Key pick up will be arranged upon booking and then you will be left to it! If you require any assistance I will be available by phone or internet. It is recommended that you have a car The house is heated primarily from the wood burner which powers the radiators and provides ample hot water for a deep soak in the bath. If you are visiting in winter it is recommended that you know how to light and maintain a fire! Seasoned hard wood is included in the price. The house is cleaned before and after your stay, but it is a countryside cottage so if you are alarmed by the odd spider or spec of dust maybe try a Premier Inn instead!
