Ancient farmhouse nestled in the woods and fields of deepest France. The house is ideally suited for families looking for peace in a rustic setting It is an old rustic farmhouse next to a beautiful lake (*recently emptied but in the process of being refilled). We don't have wifi (though there are access points local + 4G mobile coverage) or cable TV - but there is a DVD player, so it is a great spot to disconnect and watch the birds skimming across the lake. Outside, there are several barns, a garden and the lake where you can swim or fish, it is only a 50 metres stroll to the woods. This is a very well preserved region, rich in forests, rivers and small lakes hidden up farm tracks. It is a paradise for children, for dens in the woods, walking, horse riding, fishing, finding mushrooms, in short ideal for those who want to find some quiet and a closeness to nature. Nearby there are the ancient tapestry towns of Aubusson & Felletin, and Lake Vassiviere, with its beaches and a wide range of activities, such sailing, art galleries, tree adventure parks etc. Upstairs, there are 3 large double bedrooms, a loft dormitory for children (5 beds); two bathrooms arranged across two floors. On the ground floor this is a large kitchen and a large living room, each equipped with a wood stove. (no central heating!). Separately, next to the lake, there is an additional bedroom in a converted outbuilding, the 'hermitage', with a double bed and solar/candle lighting. It is in addition to the bedrooms in the listing as it has no electricity or immediate access to a bathroom. We do not live on site but are very available for information about all the activities the area to enjoy your stay. In the charming hamlet of Masvaudier, 2km from the village of Vallière (shops), 10km from Aubusson, 12 km from Felletin and it's beautiful market. We are halfway between Clermont Ferrand and Limoges, 4 hours from Paris. A car is necessary since the house is in a small hamlet with no transport! The house, the garden and the lake! We are on the end of a phone at any time for information, suggestions, or queries! There is a train from Paris to La Souterraine, and then a connecting bus to Aubusson. Though to get to the house ideally you need a car! The are flights into Limoges with Ryanair, or Clermont Ferrand.
