The Garden Bungalows – each with their own garden – provide quiet and comfortable accommodations for 2 persons per house.House Nina’s main room faces southwest. It has been refurbished using natural materials and has a natural stone floor. The living room/bedroom offers double-bed, table and chairs. The kitchenette around the corner has a window facing south. The bathroom is a separate room, brightly lit by daylight and with a bathtub. These comfortable stone houses are about 300 years old and once were used by the olive farmers for processing their harvest. Each of them stands alone meaning they’re screened, secluded – making them relaxingly private. During 2015, 2016 they were renovated, keeping a careful eye on their original character, using natural building materials, turning them into attractive vacation homes. Each bungalow has about 30-40 m2 of floorspace. Each house has its own garden.Fresh linen and towels are provided . All houses are non-smoking. Idyllic ambience and a Garden!!t’s not just that each house has its own garden with seatings. The property offers a 6m x 5m exercise area equipped with its own wooden floor. There’s a shady bamboo roof, in tranquil atmosphere between the mountains and the sea – perfect for yoga classes, other courses and workshops. Washing machine available in the utility room. Aspros Potamos, the valley of the “White River” is a region of extraordinary natural beauty which has been assigned protected status by the Greek government, designated as a ‘protected area’. Many sights worth seeing can be easily reached on foot from the Garden Bungalows. Just a 10-minute walk from Makry-Gialos you’ll run across the 3 Garden Bungalows, tucked into a lush green garden and an absolutely tranquil location – only a 10-minute walk to the next beach! Makry-Gialos with its beaches, restaurants and stores is located on a cove just 25 km east of Ierapetra and ca. 32 km south of Sitia (the closest airport). The local microclimate is especially warm all year. This makes it a welcome destination the whole year. The pleasant air and water temperatures mean many vacationers enjoy visiting the region in the winter months, too.Discover the lonesome sandy and pebbly beaches, coves and towns along the coast. And when you leave the coast, the interior landscape offers breathtaking views of gorges and remote mountain villages where it seems as if time has come to a standstill!Our bungalows are located on property ca. 600 m2 in size, just a 10 minute walk from Makry-Gialos, right next to the entrance to the Pefki Gorge. Looking south you see the town and the Lybian sea,northwards the foothills of the Pefki mountains.These Garden Bungalows are located at the entrance to the Pefki Gorge in the Aspros Potamos valley making them ideal for taking trips around the area or exploring the several hiking paths, like the European long-distance path E4. The coastal town Makry-Gialos (‘long beach’) is located below the Garden Bungalows. This little fishing village and its harbor have managed to preserve its tranquil and authentic atmosphere despite a lengthy tourist tradition.Makry-Gialos offers: Restaurants, cafés, taverns (many with wonderful sea views) Supermarkets, shopping opportunities Shops with regional and organic products (olive oil, cheeses, honey, wine …) Post office / banks / tourist office Doctors / pharmacies The main beach in Makry-Gialos with its golden sand and crystal-clear water is perfect for kids: it’s easy to get into the water as the beach has a gentle grade, ideal for people who haven’t done a lot of swimming.
