This charming, family friendly cottage, which dates from 1715, is in the heart of the beautiful Cotswold village of Bledington. Located on a picturesque row of cottages opposite the church and only a few minutes walk from the acclaimed local pub The King's Head Inn and the beautiful rolling Cotswold hills. The cottage has a spacious garden and features original oak beams, exposed Cotswold stone, an Aga and a wood burning stove. Whilst government restrictions are in place due to Covid-19 we will only be accepting bookings for up to 6 guests. Please note that there are building works taking place at our next door neighbour, so close proximity to the cottage at the moment. This means that there is increased noise during working hours of weekdays. Due to this we have factored in a discounted rate for weekday bookings. The oak beamed ceilings and the age of the cottage does make for a few squeaky floorboards! This is a well used and well loved family cottage so please expect that there will be some signs of this (this is not a polished Soho Farmhouse! But it is delightfully cosy and comfortable as all the reviews will attest to.) Up to two dogs are welcomed but are not allowed upstairs or on the sofas. Two dog bowls are provided. Bledington is a quiet, delightful Cotswold village with a village green and stream. It is surrounded by open countryside with excellent walking. The Church is opposite the house and the acclaimed and friendly pub The King's Head Inn, is less than five minutes down the lane. The pub was voted pub of the year 2018 by The Good Pub Guide. There are many other places to eat in the locality with a number of gastro pubs and great restaurants in the surrounding villages. Shopping in the local towns and villages suits all tastes. Daylesford Farm & Organic Shop is 4 miles away and if you don't feel like driving, there is a lovely walk across the fields from Bledington to Daylesford. There are many beautiful towns, villages and churches to visit in the area and activities to suit all ages. Private members club Soho Farmhouse is 12 miles away. The cottage is within easy reach of Stow-on-the-Wold (4.5 miles), Bourton-on-the-Water (7 miles), Burford (8 miles). Stratford-upon-Avon (25 Miles) and Oxford (27 miles). Kingham station with main-line services to London, Oxford and Worcester, is one mile away. Guest will have access to the whole property and garden. There is a out house in the garden that is used for the owner's storage so will not be accessible. Contact details for assistance during your stay will be included within the detailed welcome pack sent prior to your stay. Driving from London takes between 1.5-2 hours via the M40 then A40 via Oxford. Kingham Station (mainline, regular service to Oxford and London) is one mile away and if you don't have a car it is easy to walk from the station. The train from Kingham can take you to Moreton-in-the-Marsh, Evesham, Worcester, Malvern and Hereford or the other way to Charlbury, Oxford, Reading and London Paddington. Transfers from Reading will get you to Heathrow and Gatwick airports. There is a somewhat limited bus service to Chipping Norton, Stow-on-the-Wold (from where you can get another bus to Cheltenham). Information on local taxi services will be provided.
