This charming 300 year old villa offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy the food, wine and rich history of this spectacular region. The property's spacious interiors are tastefully furnished throughout, with the emphasis on comfort. This charming 200 - 300 year old villa offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy the food, wine and rich history of this spectacular region. Named "Les Deux Sources" and surrounded by rolling hills, the property's spacious interiors are tastefully furnished, with the emphasis on comfort. Comprising 3 generous bedrooms, 3 modern bathrooms, large kitchen, lounge, dining and outdoor entertaining deck, the villa is perfectly suited to 3 couples. Alternatively, the king size beds can be made into six large singles. The location cannot be beaten. "Les Deux Sources" is just a 5-minute drive or 15-minute stroll along the banks of the Cele River. The house sits on the protected side of a hill, each light-filled room overlooking the beautiful Cele valley, ideal for walking, cycling, lake and river kayaking and car trips. The property's one and a half acres of wooded garden contains a variety of deciduous trees - walnut, hazelnut, apple, oak, white and purple fig trees. There are 2 water sources that deliver a constant stream of natural spring water from the mountains - hence the name, "Les Deux Sources". The garden also boasts an ancient stone four à pain {bread oven}, a little stone stable and a stone lavoire. Thus it is more a "country house" in its rusticity and separateness, but has the huge advantage of being within easy walking distance, and part of, the vibrant town of Figeac. Figeac is a stunning town of around 12,000 people in the picturesque Lot Valley of Southern France. The Lot Region is the most quietly spectacular place in France - but not at all touristy. Figeac is often described as "the real France" because, despite its astonishing beauty, its prosperity is not derived from tourism. The inhabitants have real jobs - mainly producing and retailing food, working for the large Figeac Hospital and making parts for the Airbuses. So it is not a hybrid touristy town, not changed by foreign owners as has happened in the Dordogne and Provence. This is the real deal, the real France, but the locals are extremely friendly - gracious, welcoming folk, tolerant of visitors who don't speak their language. Figeac offers delicious Quercy food. Foie gras, duck magret and confit, truffles in season, amazing pastries, breads, organic fruits and vegetables are its staples, as well as the splendid black Cahors wine and regional Bordeaux varieties. Within and around the town are several excellent local produce shops, wine merchants, renowned restaurants and lots of outdoor cafés with surprisingly good coffee {for France!} and teas. Figeac attracts tourists, but not the huge hoards that flock to Provence and the Dordogne. There are many superb restaurants, cafés and patisseries, as well as a lively market on Saturday where the local produce like foie gras, duck, hare, Quercy cakes, nuts and vegetables are sold. Situated on the River Cele and 5 km from the River Lot, Figeac is located on a major train route, from Paris in the north and Toulouse in the South. The Figeac railway station is just 5 minutes from the house. Figeac is: 2 hours north of Toulouse by train or car. 1 hour from Cahors, the capital of the Lot. 6 hours south of Paris. From the house, the centre of Figeac is just a 5 minute drive or a stroll away. Sunrise or dusk walks around the house's rural surrounds are a must.
