Welsh Victorian B&B in Llandovery (Towy Room)
Llwyncelyn is a picturesque riverside Victorian grade II listed estate house in Wales with many original features of the era. In the past, the house was a guesthouse and was acquired in September 2018 by the current owners Chris & Haydn (& Italian Spinone dogs Blanche and Vera). Due to the size of the house, we are offering two lovely, boutique double bed and breakfast bedrooms (our Holly & Towy Rooms). River fishing is available subject to license & permit fees. Llwyncelyn is a private house located next to the River Tywi, offering options for fishing and pure relaxation. The house is a prominent residence on the main A40 within walking distance from the lovely Welsh Drovers town of Llandovery complete with many restaurants, pubs, cafes, array of independent shops, swimming pool, castle and visitor centre. We are in very close proximity to fabulous outdoor walking, mountain biking trails, cycling and fishing. We are also closely located to the lovely Cambrian Mountains, Llyn Brianne reservoir, Black Mountain (Myndd Du) in the Brecon Beacons, the smallest town in Britain (Llanwrtyd Wells) and Prince Charles's Welsh Country house at Llwynywermwd. Llyn y Fan Fach (Lady of the Lake) and the Carmarthen Fans are just a few miles away, and the legend is that a woman emerged from the magical lake, and her sons became the renowned physicians of Myddfai who specialised in herbal medicines created from botanicals collected from the surrounding Welsh countryside. Guests have a dedicated dining room for breakfast, afternoon tea and optional evening meals, and a dedicated drawing room and gardens (weather permitting) to relax in during their stay. We make every effort to dedicate bathroom/shower facilities to guests but during busy periods these may be shared with other guests. All bedrooms are private with lockable doors. Guest rooms are located within Llwyncelyn House and as a private residence we are available as required by our guests. However, in the interests of guest privacy we are very happy for guests to have quiet enjoyment during their stay without interruption but will be available when needed. Llandovery is a small but vibrant Welsh Drovers town with many cafes, pubs, takeaways and restaurants offering delectable, well-priced, budget and high quality food options. There is also a fabulous mix of local shops including patisserie, haberdashery, visitor centre, antiques, and independent boutiques amongst many others. Llandovery is connected on the Heart of Wales Railway line which runs from Swansea through to Shrewsbury. Llandovery to Swansea is approximately 1.5 hours on the train. There are superb walking routes in and around the area particularly in the Westerly side of the Brecon Beacons National Park and Forests managed by Natural Resources, Wales.
