Self contained, luxurious eco retreat in the beautiful East Devon countryside - just 6 miles from the sea! As seen on Grand Designs and Grand Designs Revisited 2018, our property is a zero carbon luxurious eco home, built from traditional cob, with a wildflower meadow roof and set in 3.5 acres of meadow and woodland. Ottery St Mary is a charming, bustling, little town, set on the River Otter, providing all the basic needs, independent shops and plenty of lovely eateries, and a few pubs! As seen on Grand Designs and Grand Designs Revisited 2018, our property is a modern zero carbon eco luxurious home, built from traditional cob, with an amazing wildflower meadow roof and set in 3.5 acres of meadow and woodland. This is a luxury, zero carbon house - we produce more electricity renewably than we use and all of our water is either filtered rainwater or from our borehole. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and homemade flapjack are provided as a welcome pack for your arrival. Dingle Dell annexe is linked to our home by a large, very productive, (almost tropical!) greenhouse. Dingle Dell annexe has 3 bedrooms - a king and a twin on the ground floor, with a further king upstairs, all furnished with quality oak furniture, deep mattresses and quality bedding. The bathrooms are both beautifully fitted with travertine floor tiles, with underfloor heating a walk in rainfall shower and a very comfy slipper bath on the ground floor, and a luxury shower over the bath on the first floor. Both bathrooms are also fitted with luxurious "I Love Eco Essentials" toiletries. There is a gorgeous woodburner, with logs provided, in the ground floor living area, which is used to boost the hot water if the sun lets us down! This then opens onto a sunspace with a dining table and amazing views across our meadow and out onto East Devon. Stunning hand made oak stairs wind up to the first floor from the sunspace, into an open living / dining and bespoke hand made oak kitchen, plus the king bedroom and bathroom. The layout is great for grand parents, parents and children, or multiple couples holidaying together as it still achieves a level of privacy and space if required! We also have an amazing private gym / sauna/ games room suite which is available to book for your exclusive use for an additional charge. This is available to annexe guests over 18 years only. There is lots of space for easy parking on site and a covered charging bay for electric cars if required. Guests are welcome to wander, exploring our meadow, copse and woodland leading down to the stream which forms the border between us and the surrounding farmland. There is a sunken trampoline and basket swing in the meadow, plus our friendly hens and dog, who are always happy to say hello! I live on site in the main house - so will probably be here to welcome you and to be on hand if you need any guidance, plus I can quickly help with any questions you may have. We are at the end of a long, unmetalled track, right on the edge of Ottery St Mary surrounded by beautiful East Devon countryside. Exeter is only 10 miles away, and the stunning East Devon (Jurassic) coast is just 6 miles away. Head to the coast for a beach walk or beach day, plus activities such as kayaking and fossil hunting, plus the famous South West coast path. A choice of bike trails are nearby and a footpath across the surrounding farmland is just outside the gate! A walk along the River Otter, which leads all the way to Budleigh Salterton from Ottery St Mary, is glorious and shouldn't be overloooked, a few miles south takes you to the village of Tipton St John, with a very lovely country pub... Keep a look out for amazing wildlife including otters and even beavers along the riverbanks! We are just 10 minutes from the A30 giving easy links to the M5 and the A303. We have good train links with our nearest stations being Feniton and Honiton, and a good bus service running from Ottery St Mary. We have lots of space on site for easy car parking, and can provide a covered 13amp charging point for electric cars. Guest are welcome to explore our tranquil woodland garden, where you can find a swing and sunken trampoline as well as a pretty stream on which Otters have been sited! We do ask that children must be supervised on site at all times. Wifi is provided free of charge via use of a 4G router . It isn't 'city standard' due to our rural location, but we have done our best to provide this alternative, and it is better than the line wifi service in our house, where we also tend to rely on 4G.
