The Hideaway Batcombe
The hideaway is ideal for short breaks in beautiful countryside. It has: its own entrance so guests can come and go as they please; a super kingsized bed; ensuite shower room, and a kitchenette for guests to prepare their own breakfast (basics provided, including free range eggs). We are: a short walk from Three Horseshoes pub (TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR REFIT); three miles from Bruton and Hauser and Wirth's gallery and seven miles from Glastonbury Festival's site. The Hideaway is a large studio room with super kingsize bed , small sofa, log burner, kitchenette, en-suite shower room and its own entrance through a gate and up some stone steps (fairly steep). It is newly refurbished , clean and comfortable. The kitchenette is perfect for preparing breakfast or simple meals (Please note there is a double hob but no oven. We will provide tea, coffee, milk, local free range eggs, bread, butter etc. We will provide a basket of logs for this and give instructions on its safe use upon arrival (These are also detailed in the Hideaway guide book). The shower is powerful and refreshing but hot water is not unlimited so we kindly request that showers are kept to a reasonable length. Cot available upon request. (No TV) The whole of The Hideaway is for your use. There is a small area outside the stable door with a bench for taking off boots and smoking. The few step from the gate to the door are a little steep, but there is a hand rail. We hope to be available on your arrival and will show you the accommodation. We will also be happy to try and help with any questions or requirements during your stay. Batcombe and the surrounding area sit peacefully in stunningly beautiful countryside. There are lots of lovely walks! We are within a short walk of the church, the fabulous pub (temporarily closed)and Penny Square Barn (A popular wedding and party venue). Bruton (including Hauser and Wirth Gallery and The Roth Bar are a short drive away, as is the Bath and West Show grounds. We are also only about 30 minute drive from Longleat and Haynes Motor Museum. Bath is 45-50 minutes away. Castle Cary is the easiest train station to use, although there are also stations in Bruton and Frome. The local lanes are bendy narrow and oftentimes muddy. Please drive slowly. If you are walking at night, be seen! Torches are essential. Occasional country side odours fill the air!
