There is space for one car on the drive. Otterton is an idyllic Devon village of thatched cottages with a stream running down the main street. It is located on the beautiful River Otter, with otters, kingfishers and the now-famous beavers. Within easy walking distance is the UNESCO World Heritage Site, "The Jurassic Coast" and beaches at Ladram Bay, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth are very close. The village has a shop, The Kings Arms Pub, which serves excellent meals, and Otterton Mill, a medieval watermill with restaurant, cafe, gallery, farm shop and music events. The Otter Valley is situated between the high ground of Mutters Moor and Woodbury Common. Walking, cycling, water sports, tennis, golf, croquet, cricket and football are all available locally. There are many art galleries, National Trust properties and gardens nearby and Bicton Botanical Gardens are a short beautiful walk, or an even shorter drive, away. Close to the Annexe is a children's playground and straight from the door you can access wonderful walks and beautiful views immediately. The larger seaside town of Exmouth with its marina and 2 mile sandy beach is less than 15 minutes' drive and the historic, cathedral city of Exeter less than 30 minutes away. No major roads pass through Otterton, so driving locally is along the beautiful and quiet "sunken lanes" of Devon. However, the main Exeter-Sidmouth road is less than 10 minutes away and provides access to the M5 in about 20 minutes, to Dartmoor or the English Riviera is 40 minutes or along the coast to Sidmouth, Lyme Regis and beyond. Otterton is on a bus route to Exmouth and Sidmouth - and further to Exeter with airport and rail stations. Walking paths , cycle routes and bridle paths abound. The South West Peninsula Coastal Path is within 15 minutes' walk and there are then 500 miles of walking, if you wish. The East Devon Way and the East Devon Cycle Route pass nearby. Woodbury Common and Mutters Moor have forests and wide open heath and moorand there are also the two National parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor for day trips. A favourite walk is along the River Otter, past the water mill through a nature reserve and bird sanctuary to the beach at Budleigh Salterton for a picnic or lunch at a beach cafe. At about 2.5 miles each way, it is a gentle, flat stroll, full of wildlife, natural beauty and a swim or ice cream at the end.
