Laid Back Living in the Shepherds Hut
After years in the making, our dreams finally came true when we had the opportunity to build our own shepherds hut. This fully insulated hut is our pride and joy and after 6 months of building and creating, we have it up a running for our fabulous guests. This hut is a truly wonderful experience that you never want to leave. The most comfortable bed and happy, laid back living, you'll never want to leave! Welcome to Dreckly, our fully insulated shepherds hut. This super cosy 'home from home' hut has a relaxing vibe and is set in a tranquil & peaceful setting, over looking fields and engine houses. Dreckly has everything you need to have a stress free vacation. It has a fully functional kitchen, so ideal if you like to cook. A large wood burner is installed for those chilly nights and a fire pit outside if you feel like star gazing. The fire pit can also be used as a BBQ. We will even start you off with some logs and you can purchase more if needed. The ensuite loo is flushable and the shower is outside, but only a stone's throw away. *Please note that the shower is shared with other guests*. Fresh, clean bedding and towels are supplied, as well as tea & coffee We live on the property and are here as much as you need us. We have a variety of extremely friendly pets including sheep, pygmy goats, chickens, ducks cats & dogs that wander around freely. They are all particularly nosy and will come and visit you and say hello. With this reason, unfortunately we do not accept dogs. Private lane but it is a bit bumpy so take care! We are here as much as you need us, feel free to knock on our door. The local village of St Day is only a 5 minute walk away. This traditional Cornish village has 2 well stocked shops and are open till late, 2 pubs (one serving food), a butcher/deli, a post office and a launderette. Dreckly is very central in West Cornwall. We are only 2 miles off the A30, so ideal for exploring and discovering many hidden gems. We are only 2 miles off the A30 and 4 miles to the coast. St Ives is only half hour drive away. You can cycle from coast to coast between Devoran and Portreath and each way is about 5.5 miles. There are a couple of pubs on the way too! We are on one of the worlds herritige sites with many historical mining trails which you can either cycle or walk around. There are many beautiful beaches all within a 30 minute drive. The nearest is Porthtowan which is only 4 miles away! If you would prefer to catch the bus and take in the Cornish scenery then we have a bus stop right on our doorstop. The bus will take you to the City of Truro, Redruth and beyond. The shower facilities are outside and shared with two other huts.
