The Dairy Shed is a self-contained converted barn with a secret, wildflower-roofed cabin bedroom behind a bookshelf. Just outside the beautiful harbour town of Aberaeron it is the perfect place from which to explore the stunning coastline of Cardigan Bay in West Wales. On your doorstep there is plenty to see and do but equally inviting is firing up the wood burner or sitting out with a lit fire pit on your own private deck to enjoy the uninterrupted views of the surrounding Aeron Valley. With its lime-washed walls and wooden floors, the Dairy Shed is a traditional old stone barn which has been transformed and extended into a light and airy open-plan space with a secret, wildflower-roofed cabin bedroom behind a bookshelf. The living area includes a well equipped kitchen, dining table and chairs, a large sofa and television and a comfy armchair set in front of a working wood burning stove. Push the integrated bookshelf to magically reveal an adjoining timber barn with wildflower roof that houses the bedroom (with double bed and memory foam mattress) and shower-room. The inside walls are clad with birch-ply giving the space a Nordic feel. The bedroom also features a hidden bunk bed that can accommodate two children (over five years old) during school holidays only. From the living room, oak French doors open out onto a decking area with table and chairs and extends beyond to a fire pit area with adirondack chairs and a large private garden with fruit trees. The Dairy Shed is a self-contained building with self check-in, its own parking area, entrance and a large garden with uninterrupted views out on to open countryside. It is adjacent to our farmhouse and accessed from a former farm yard shared with our other listing The Pig Let. We (owners Dave & Sian) live next door in the farmhouse. No interaction with us is necessary, however, if there is anything you need during your stay, we're on hand to help. We are surrounded on three sides by beautiful countryside with long-reaching views across fields to wooded hills beyond. We are located in the small village of Ciliau Aeron which has no shops or facilities but lies just a few miles inland from the harbour town of Aberaeron which has a number of shops, a cashpoint, a small supermarket and a good choice of restaurants and bars. Cardigan Bay has some of the country's most fantastic and least visited beaches – enjoy the long stretches of sand at Penbryn, the cafes and pubs of Llangrannog and New Quay, or, if you’re feeling adventurous, ramble over the coastal path and find some of the hidden coves. Closer to home explore the local organic vegetable farm and honesty box farm shop (Blaencamel Organic Farm), the magical Ty Glyn Trust riverside walled garden, Llanerchaeron National Trust estate and Conti's woodland cafe, and the Aberaeron cycle trail all within a mile or so. We are easily accessible by car which is recommended as the most practical way to explore the area. The local bus stop is just a five minute walk with hourly buses to Aberaeron (10 mins), Aberystwyth (50 mins), Lampeter (25 mins) and Carmarthen (1 hour). Book for three nights or more for a discounted stay. We live onsite in the farmhouse so you may hear family life from time to time. There may be other guests staying in our other units too. The bed is custom made and slightly lower than a standard bed to maximise the views from the window. The bedroom also features a hidden bunk bed that can accommodate two children (over five years old) during school holidays only. The Dairy Shed overlooks working organic fields. Sheep and cows are raised and hay and crops are grown and harvested depending on the season so you may see the occasional tractor or plough (and farmer) pass by. The Dairy Shed benefits from wireless internet but please note we are in a semi-rural location and whilst the internet is suitable for basic surfing it is not strong enough to stream TV.
