Small and cozy room that opens to a communal courtyard. It accommodates two guests in a double bed. This room has no capacity for a child’s cot. Room size: 15 m2 About a hundred meters from the Castle gate, just a few steps from the town’s main square, you will find the Ritsos Guesthouse. Its location is privileged, since it is just above the Portello, the eastern gate of the wall, which leads down to the sea and a wonderful swimming spot. As soon as you arrive at the Castle of Monemvasia, go to the Malvasia Traditional Hotels group reception on the cobbled high street, about fifty meters from the entrance gate, to be taken you to your room. Originally a home, the Ritsos Guesthouse is an renovated traditional building which, with minimal interventions, was converted to a guesthouse in 1978. The room is decorated with handmade furniture and rugs, are charming without extravagance. Equipped with air conditioning, a refrigerator and Wi-Fi, and some have a kitchen to prepare breakfast and light meals. The Ritsos Guesthouse was the first organized accommodation in the Castle of Monemvasia. Along with the Malvasia Hotel and the Stellaki Mansion, it belongs to the Malvasia Traditional Hotels group. The old town of Monemvasia is a medieval castle where cars and motorbikes are not allowed. So, the standard procedure for parking is reach the gate of the castle with your car, unload your luggage and leave it at the gate with the co-driver and the rest of the passengers, while the driver drives back on the road towards the bridge and the new town looking for a parking place on his right hand side along the road. Then, he walks back to the gate or if the closest parking place is far away, he waits for the shuttle bus which connects the old and the new town of Monemvasia. During the summer months, a traditional cafe operates on the ground floor of the Guesthouse, offering tasty meze, cold beer and ouzo in the shade of a fig tree, after a dip in the sea.
