For a secluded, tranquil holiday at Yabbacombe the Farmhouse is available for two people. During their stay guests will have the whole property to themselves with the use of one of the bedrooms. Located in a quiet Devon valley with over 30 acres of land, there are gardens, ponds, meadows and woodland. Guests are welcome to explore and enjoy these extensive grounds and woods. Fantastic beaches are only a short drive away, including Bantham, Bigbury and Thurlestone. Dating back to the 18th century with thick stone walls, the Old Farmhouse is full of character and is decorated in a traditional country style. Central heating keeps the property cosy and free unlimited internet access is provided via wifi. On the ground floor, there is a large country kitchen, comfortable sitting room, and a utility room with toilet. The kitchen has handmade fitted pine cupboards with slate worktops, antique welsh dresser and a large pine table for family meals. The kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker and dishwasher, and in the spacious walk-in larder there is a tall fridge, separate freezer and microwave. The sitting room has two sofas and two armchairs together with a large screen television and DVD player. Upstairs there are four bedrooms but guests will only have access to one of the bedrooms. The wood panelled bathroom has a large double ended bath, toilet, basin and separate shower. Duvets, covers, sheets, pillows and pillow cases are all provided. Outside there is an enclosed private patio with table / chairs and a BBQ. A gate at the end of the patio provides access to the extensive main garden with its orchard, stream and pond. In spring the orchard is filled with daffodils while bluebells carpet the nearby woods. The valley is home to lots of wildlife and you may see a combination of pheasants, ducks, moorhens, herons, birds of prey, swallows, swifts, house martins, kingfishers, rabbits, badgers, bats, and the occasional deer! There is plenty of room for multiple cars to park close to the property. Access is from 4pm on the first day of your booking and guests are requested to vacate the property by 10am on the day of departure. One of the owners will normally be there to welcome you on arrival and show you around the property. On occasions when this is not possible keys are left in a place pre-notified to the guests. Yabbacombe is located ¾ mile from the local village of Aveton Gifford. Picturesque Hatch Bridge is within walking distance and the River Avon flows a few miles down an unspoilt tidal estuary to expansive sandy beaches at Bantham and Bigbury. There is a slipway at Aveton Gifford with convenient car parking giving access to the river for small boats, canoes and kayaks. Aveton Gifford has a local pub with a restaurant and a post office / shop for papers and provisions. The local market town of Kingsbridge is a 10 minute drive and has two supermarkets, a petrol station, swimming pool, sports centre, garage, banks, shops, pubs and restaurants. The location provides an ideal base for your holiday, you can relax in the peaceful environment of the property itself one day, and enjoy the fantastic beaches or local countryside the next. For walkers there are many local walks, as well as the National Trust coastal footpaths that stretch around the dramatic South Hams coastline. Dartmoor National Park is only a 30 minutes drive away with its Tors and rugged landscape.
