Seashell Cottage
Seashell Cottage is a traditional property situated across the road from Largo Bay's stunning sandy beach. It is only 11 miles from St Andrews and approximately 40 miles from Edinburgh making it an ideal base for a relaxing family holiday. On the ground floor there is a small entrance hallway giving access to the lounge which is open plan to a dining area and fully fitted kitchen. Upstairs there is a large bathroom and double bedroom (kingsize bed) with ample wardrobe space. The attic bedroom, which is accessed off the main bedroom, has twin beds and a dormer window. The accommodation is best suited to couples or families. There is a large shared walled garden with seating and rotary clothes dryers to the rear of the property. The tiered garden is a sun trap and has a barbeque and table and chairs. Please note that the garden is shared with the properties either side and is not directly accessible from the cottage. You have to go out the front door and round the lane to the garden. There is no sea view. Lower Largo has a good local pub The Railway which sells snacks during the day and boasts several real ales and The Crusoe Hotel at the harbour serves food all day. There is also The Aurie, a cafe selling food, refreshments and crafts located near the Sailing Club. Andy’s Shop in the village sells everything for day to day requirements. Nearby Lundin Links has a few shops and The Old Manor Hotel and Upper Largo Hotel, both serving food, are easily accessed by car or you can take a pleasant walk to both. The village is famous as the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, the sailor who lived as a castaway for 4 years on Juan Fernandez Island and provided inspiration for Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe. His statue stands above the doorway of his home on the Main Street. Lower Largo is a great location for golf enthusiasts with several premier golf courses nearby including Lundin Links, St Andrew, Crail, Anstruther and Ladybank. There are also many leisure facilities including walking, water sports and cricket. Tennis, squash and fitness facilities are available at Lundin Sports Club. St Andrews is a short drive (11 miles) and is known worldwide as the home of golf. It is also home to the third oldest University in Scotland and it is well worth a visit to the quaint street and stunning beaches. Edinburgh is approximately an hour’s drive from Lower Largo. The No. 95 bus runs daily through the village taking you to/from Leven to St. Andrews. Buses to Edinburgh run from St Andrews daily and stop at nearby Lundin Links. DOGS: ONLY ONE SMALL DOG PERMITTED AT AN EXTRA CHARGE OF £25 PER STAY PAYABLE AT THE COTTAGE.
