The house and surrounding area will also be particularly appealing to artists/writers/musicians looking to be inspired in a beautiful natural environment. The small charming village of Glenbeigh is just down the road and has a supermarket and a small selection of local shops, traditional pubs and restuarants. There are a couple of excellent gourmet restaurants in Cromane and Caragh Lake (3 miles away). Killorglin (6 miles) is a medium sized Irish town with a lively social scene and a wide array of pubs and restaurants to choose from. The town also boasts a good live music scene. Killarney (16 miles) is arguably the tourist capital of Ireland, with all associated attractions and amenities, including its famous national park. The area is well served by local taxis, should one wish to have a night on the town and leave the car at home. Further afield places of note include Dingle town and peninsula, Kenmare, Waterville and the awe-inspiring Skellig islands (25-40 miles). Apart from the great natural beauty of the area, this is a very historic and mythical part of Ireland, which features prominently in the great Irish folklore tales. There is even an ancient 'holy well' up the road from the house with alleged curative powers.
