Arkland is an 18th Century listed Georgian building situated in a quiet lane and has one flat available for self-catering or rooms only when available. The whitewashed historic building is down a quiet lane situated right in the centre of the picturesque small town of Inveraray, Argyll on the west coast of Scotland and enjoys attractive views of the loch and mountains. A stroll of only two minutes brings you to the shores of Loch Fyne, one of the longest sea lochs in Scotland. Inveraray Castle (home of Clan Campbell) and Inveraray Jail are interesting to visit nearby and there are also many beautiful gardens in the area such as Crarae (NTS) The flat has two bedrooms: Double room with en-suite shower; the family room has a double and single bed - very comfortable beds with duvets. Central bathroom with a bath and electric shower. The lounge is open plan with dining/kitchen area. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything you could want for your stay - short or long. The whole flat is warm with central heating and a log effect electric stove in the lounge area; plenty of hot water; electric showers; hair dryers; radios, tv with freeview, a selection of DVDs and CDs for the music centre; books and maps also games for the children and adults! Excellent free Wifi in all areas The flat is bright and airy with lots of lovely prints, paintings and ornaments that I have picked up or chosen carefully on my travels at home and abroad in Mexico, Spain, Cuba, Morocco and India. For bird lovers - we have a bird cafe outside the First floor window attracting siskins, blue tits, chaffinches, robins, etc The flats are good for individual families or small groups touring or having holidays together. People think they are cosy and welcoming! If there is availability rooms can also be rented individually with access to kitchen and lounge. I have occasional need for access through the main door and hall of the first floor flat to my self-contained attic flat above. However, my work takes me away from home frequently during the summer season especially. I am a professional tour guide, so I can tell you anything about Scotland and help plan your routes and tours. Unfortunately I am away from home in the summer months with my work so am not able to meet all guests personally. If you wish particular information in advance I will be pleased to try and help you. I am from Scotland but lived in Spain for many years and speak fluent Spanish. I love to welcome people to Scotland and in particular to the beautiful district of Argyll and tell them about the 'hidden' less touristy places to visit. Children and babies: There is a fold up cot, high chair and changing mat available. Well behaved pets are welcome too by prior arrangement! Please bring dog's own clean bedding. Parking:Nearby parking for cars and vans: There is free parking at top of the lane at or behind the Community Hall, on Main Street or on the main road. There is access for loading and unloading outside flats. Free parking in The Avenue from November to end March Walkers are very welcome - Arkland is in a good location for walking, forestry, lochside or mountain tracks. There are drying facilities and a tumble dryer is available. Bikers and Cyclists: There is parking alongside Arkland and a secure shed available for bikes Location & Communications: In centre of small village of Inveraray. Inveraray is on main bus route from Glasgow A82/A83. Approximately 1.5 – 2 hours. Collection at nearest train stations (Arrochar/Tarbet Loch Lomond or Dalmally), airport (Glasgow or Prestwick) or ferry can be arranged Other nearby attractions are Inveraray Castle, Inveraray Jail, Auchindrain Museum, Crarae Gardens or Ardkinglas Gardens, the golf course and (naturally) the local pub for a good selection of whiskies and local ales and good live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Loch Fyne Oysters sea food restaurant is 15 minutes by car or taxi - just ask us for details of our private taxi hire. Samphire fish & seafood restaurant is just round the corner from Arkland! The George Hotel is less than 5 minutes across the road for food and live music on Fridays & Saturdays. "Your flat is cosy and welcoming. Very well equipped. I’m sure we will come back." - one of the many comments in our Arkland guest book. The whole flat When I am at home I like to meet guests and help them with any enquiries about the neighbourhood or their travels in Scotland This is a unique 18th C conservation town and has a local population of all ages who live and work in and around this small Scottish town. Ideal location as a base while investigating the rest of Argyll or as a stop on the way to The Island of Islay or Campbeltown and as a first stop when arriving in Glasgow or Prestwick airports while touring on the way north or north west. Likewise, when returning from travelling from Skye, Inverness, Fort William or Oban The flat is centrally situated and, if arriving by bus only 5 minutes walk through the centre of town from the local bus stop and park on Front Street, Inveraray. The bus arrives from Glasgow on the way to Campbeltown, Lochgilphead or farther north-west to Oban. Important: Please ensure that you read the HOUSE MANUAL when your booking is confirmed and in advance of your stay (do not rely on downloading from your mobile phone when you arrive) so that you know the location of the property, parking, entry details, etc and can find it easily on arrival as I may not be at home to welcome you. This ensures that you have a trouble free experience even if you arrive late at the property.
