Lalenia cottage: a place to dream

Our goal is to make visitors feel comfortable in a quiet environment, to enjoy the superb view of the forest, the sea and Ithaca, as well as the colors, sounds and scents of nature. Lalenia cottage combines modern amenities with the warm feeling of a real traditional farm house. Antique furniture, handicrafts, and artistic touches create an atmosphere that will help you relax and get inspired. We wish to offer you personalized hospitality and to help you discover a different aspect of Cefalonia. The house was restored in 2005 and has been under constant renovation ever since. It is 65sqm with stone walls 55cm thick. Thus, the interior is cool in summer and warm in winter. The furniture, appliances and decor have been chosen to provide maximum comfort to guests, while being elegant and aesthetically suitable for the rural environment. The house has 2 levels and can accommodate up to 4 people. Upstairs is an open plan kitchen, dining area and living room with 2 sofas, one of which can be used as an extra bed, and the master bedroom with a double bed. Downstairs is a second bedroom with a double bed and an extra exit door, bathroom and laundry corner. If you have to work with your laptop, you will find several quiet corners in the house with a suitable work surface, comfortable seat, as well as stable internet connection with satisfactory speed. The house is surrounded by a paved courtyard with a cistern, trees and flowers. Because in Greece in the summer people live more outside, on the shaded terrace there is a cozy dining furniture set and extra cushions around, where you can use the small portable grill and enjoy your food, have a coffee while reading a book or a drink while listening to music, with a wonderful view of the sea and Ithaca. You can also play table games that you will find in the house, do yoga exercise, sunbathe, or even sleep outside, as the terrace sofa turns into a bed. Besides, the lack of light pollution will allow you to enjoy the starry nights and make wishes to the falling stars! The house is located in Matsoukata, a small village in North Kefalonia. The area looks secluded and the environment is very quiet, although it is very close to everything you may need. The house is just 2 km from Mangano, a picturesque village with taverns, cafes and groceries, and 3 km from the famous Fiskardo, where in addition to tourist services you can find a pharmacy, doctor and cash machines. At a distance of 1.7km is a stunning beach, Foki, while the other beaches of the area are within a radius of 4-10km. There are also other picturesque villages around and walking trails. Depending on your mood, you can choose the lullabies of the cicadas or the happy noise of the cosmopolitan Fiskardo. The distance from Argostoli which is the capital is 47km (about 1 hour at normal speed) and from the port of Sami about 45΄. The road network is quite good and safe, but we point out that Cefalonia is a mountainous island, meaning that almost all routes are in high altitudes with unique views. Thus, driving in Cefalonia can be very enjoyable, as long as you pay attention to the… goats you may meet! It is also important to know that Cefalonia is an island with great natural diversity and the distances between the different areas are quite large. In fact, since public transport is minimal, this means that you will enjoy your vacation much more comfortably if you have a vehicle. If necessary, we are at your disposal for any help regarding car rental. • We are constantly improving, so some things may not be exactly as in the photos: they can be better but not worse! We live at this house most of the winter season, so as we identify its needs we maintain it and constantly improve the facilities. In addition, as in any regular home and not typical tourist accommodation, we add personal touches that liven it up! • We provide all linen. Since they will not change during your stay, we leave you with enough extras to change them whenever you wish. • The house has 3 air condition units, one in the main kitchen-living room and one in each bedroom. • In the upper bedroom there is a closet with a hanger and internal shelves. In the lower bedroom there is a large chest of drawers and hangers. • Dimensions of beds: Upper Bed 160X200, Lower Bed 160x200, Sofa-bed in the living room 100x200 • The kitchen is fully equipped. There is a fridge-freezer, an electric stove with oven, a microwave oven , a kettle, a filter coffee maker, an espresso machine, a toaster, as well as all kinds of cooking and serving items. If you need a special utensil for cooking, we can of course provide it to you! • At Lalenia you will also find: ironing board and iron, hair dryer, clothes rack, first aid kit, fire extinguisher and fire blanket, sewing box, mosquito net, mosquito nets and outdoor spiral, as well as a full range of cleaning products. • Upon request we can provide you at no extra cost crib and other baby items (relax, high chair) as well as basic beach items (umbrella, seats, inflatables, cooler - but not beach towels that you should have with you). The beaches of the area are pebbly and you may need suitable sea sandals, however this makes them so clear and crystal clear! • We try to contribute to the protection of the environment by providing a recycling bin, which due to limited space is located outside the house. • The parking lot is private and protected, located at the back of the house and has a half shade of an olive tree. Access to the house from the main road of the village is quite downhill, but the distance is very short (less than 30 meters). • The house may not be suitable for people with mobility disabilities or very young children who need constant supervision, because it has stairs in many spots. However, there is a security door on the inside staircase. For older children, staying in Lalenia can be a unique experience of carefree exploration, as they can move in the area without other risk factors other than the usual attention we all must pay when moving in nature (i.e. reptiles and insects). • The TV works but is not Smart. Although we try to meet all the possible needs of our guests, we believe that television is anything but helping the joy of the holidays.
