You will have the shared use of the grass tennis court, the gardens, the games room, gym, sauna and indoor heated pool. The indoor swimming pool is heated and surrounded by exotic plants and has doors to a sauna and a gym. You are welcome to wander in the luscious and colourful gardens, play croquet on the lawn, play tennis on the immaculate grass tennis court (only useable in the summer months of course) and use the Games room with snooker, table football and ping pong on the terrace outside. We are quite rural in a remote Devon valley ... down typical Devon lanes (narrow with high hedges). Fingals is a mile away from Dittisham, a beautiful village sited on the edge of the River Dart. There are many popular National Trust spots right on our doorstep, including Greenway House, Agatha Christie's recently restored summer house and gardens are just across the river, Coleton Fishacre (a spectacular house and garden designed by Milne (a disciple of Lutyens) in 1925 for Rupert and Lady Dorothy D'Oyly Carte (of Gilbert and Sullivan fame). There are also many delights a short drive away including the renowned Devon beaches, the Sharpham Estate (a huge Grade 2 listed house with beautiful gardens offering courses of different kinds, tours of the vineyard, fabulous food in the Cafe and panoramic views of the river right up to Totnes). Dartington Hall and Gardens (another beautiful Grade 2 listed house with an extraordinary history offering many different courses) and Dartmoor National Park. Below we have listed a selection of some of our favourite things to do locally. The River Dart for sailing, canoeing and ferries. We are 6 miles from Dartmouth and Totnes - for wonderful shopping and markets - and near the coast for exploring, swimming and walking. The South West Coast Path (a short drive away) is England's longest waymarked long-distance footpath and a National Trail and the Dart Valley Trail goes right past out door and is one of the area's truly great walks. This daylong ramble follows the wooded banks of the broad and beautiful river Dart, on a route crammed with gems and jewels of human and natural history. There is no public transport from Fingals but we do have a free car park and there are ferries from Dittisham (one mile) to Dartmouth and across the river to Greenway House, the home of Agatha Christie. We are in a remote Devon valley but close to the beach, the river, towns and villages, there is no sound or light pollution except for the bleating of the sheep, the mooing of the cows, tractors, buzzards and birds flying overhead, the cooing of Sheila's doves and the owls in the valley at night. We have no mobile phone signal here but offer free wifi and a landline for local and emergency calls.
