Apartment with wide and cozy patio in Es Mercadal

Functional and fully-equipped apartment, ideal for families with kids (2 bathrooms). Very good location to reach the best beaches on the island. 50 metres away from the local sports centre (swimming-pool and tennis and paddle courts). Big private patio, perfect to enjoy lunch and supper under the sky, with outdoor shower, bbq and lumber room for bikes. Outstanding location at the heart of the island, at 10 km from the best Northern (Cavalleria and Cala Pregonda) and Southern beaches (Sant Tomàs and Binigaus). Direct access to bike trail. Charming village with many restaurants and local craftmanship. At your arrival, the flat shall be clean. All the beds shall be made and you will find a towel for each guest. Each bathroom shall have a hand towel and a floor towel. If your stay is longer than a week, Fincas Sunshine shall give you a change of sheets and towels and shall take care of the laundry. The kitchen is fully equipped with glass-ceramic hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, microwaves and Nespresso coffee machine (works with Nespresso or compatibles capsules). The cutlery, tablecloth and cookery utensils are in the drawers between the oven and the fridge. The pans and pots are in the big bottom drawer of the storage buffet (living room), the cups and mugs in the top right drawer and glasses and chinaware in the right glass storage. We recommend you to use the left glass storage to stock food (you’ll probably find some food there). Olive oil, salt and other spices to cook are stored in a corner cupboard next to the hob. The 2 rooms are equipped with big wardrobes with sliding doors where you can store your clothes. In the wardrobes you’ll also find 2 heaters and 2 fans to warm or cool the house in case of extreme temperatures. In the kitchen you’ll find a big trash bin with 3 compartments to recycle. We use the other bin close to the buffet for the laundry. In the yard From the living room or the suite bedroom you can access a balcony that descends to the yard. On the right side of the balcony, there is a plastic closet with some family stuff stored, the bucket for the mop and another one to wash some laundry or collect it from the washing machine. Next to the closet, a mop, a broom and a dustpan. At the end of the patio, behind the well, there is a lumber room where you’ll find: a. 2 typical Minorcan foldable wooden tables and 4 chairs. b. 1 plastic table and 4 chairs. c. A ladder, brooms for the yard. d. A big parasol (the base is outside). e. A barbecue. You can use everything you need. Please leave everything where you found it at the end of your stay. Since we do not live in Minorca, we have hired Fincas Sunshine to manage the keys pick up/drop off at Via Ronda, 10, Es Mercadal. You can pick up the keys at the office (9.30-1.30 and 5-8) or at a safety box through a code. Once you get to the building at Tramuntana 50, Es Mercadal (8 minutes walk from Fincas Sunshine) and go through the main entrance, our flat is on the ground floor on the left (door C). If you walk out on the street, turn right and walk 100 m you will find the local swimming pool and tennis/paddle courts. Entrance and fees are quite cheap. If you have a car, normally you will find some place in the same street to park. Behind the swimming pool there are a couple of parking lot areas. The only complicated day may be Thursday because of the local market. Es Mercadal Right in the middle of the island between Ciutadella and Maó, Es Mercadal offers many shops, restaurants and attractions. You can’t miss the market on Thursday evening! If you have the chance to be here during Sant Martí’s annual festival (middle of July) you can live the jaleo (typical local show with horses) at Sa Plaça (5 minutes walk from the apartment). Regular bus lines from Mahón to Es Mercadal. Tips The garden, living room and bedroom are facing East and the other bedroom is facing West. Since Minorca is a small island and the most Eastern point of Spain, it is quite windy all the time and often the wind is Tramuntana, wind from the North. Our street was named after it, because it’s facing North. So in summer, the yard is warm/hot in the morning and cool in the afternoon. In winter, it’s pleasant in the morning and cold in the afternoon. That’s why…. ….the meals In summer we recommend you to have breakfast inside. If you have lunch after 2, the yard is perfect. For dinner, if it’s not windy the best option is outside. In winter, if it’s sunny, breakfast in the yard is a treat, but maybe you’ll be more comfortable having lunch and dinner (Website hidden by Airbnb) sleep In summer the sun will be up on the suite bedroom and the living room at 7 am. If you open the doors and the window but shut the mallorquinas (shutters) at night, you’ll get a nice breeze and will block the annoying sunrise. If you leave the second room window open, you’ll get some more fresh air.
