A large, cosy, west facing room in the basement of a Georgian villa with private wet room. The house is situated in a convenient yet secluded location close to the centre of the small town of Duns. Ideally situated for outdoor pursuits, local wedding venues or exploring the Scottish Borders towns, abbeys and beaches. Please read the description below before booking. Our guest room has underfloor heating, the private wet room is nearby, across the corridor (we supply bath robes). The large 1930s continental-style bed is made out of two bed frames and has two single duvets, usually arranged together (with a 2 inch gap between the mattrasses) but can be set up apart on request. The mattrasses measure 1mx2m each. We can also supply a cot (please advise at time of booking). A continental breakfast is served upstairs in our large kitchen/diner. Please note we are a busy household with 4 (well- behaved) children aged 9-18, we enjoy meeting new people though and staying with us is an informal affair where guests are treated as part of the family. Our home is close to the wedding venues of Wedderburn Castle (1.8 miles), Duns Castle (0.8 mile) and Manderston House (1.5 miles). Please note that we have been renovating the house for about six years now, doing most of the work ourselves, and some areas may still look a little faded! We are also a TV free zone. We have a vast garden with chickens and ducks roaming freely. We enjoy meeting new people, if you would like to join in the family evening meal (for a small charge) please mention this in advance. Come and talk to us, but if you prefer peace and quiet we respect that as well. Previous guests have commented that Duns reminds them of small French towns. It has an attractive Market Square with a good variety of shops and cafes. Duns has a vibrant community with events throughout the year. We are involved with a number of local organisations and will be able to advise you on local events if you wish. We are close to Duns Market Square. Our house is about three minutes walk from the square where the bus stops. For public transport options please check out (Website hidden by Airbnb) - there is also an app which is very useful. The nearest railway station is Berwick-upon-Tweed, the nearest airport is Edinburgh. Detailed directions are sent out after your booking is confirmed.
