Domaine de Planalvy - The End House

Our place is good for couples, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets) and those seeking some peace and quiet but not to far from the action. PlanAlvy sits amongst the vines of the famous Blanquet de Limoux region and in fact was once itself a wine producing domaine. Alas wine is no longer made here but the small vineyard still grows chardonnay grapes and these are sent to a local wine maker. It you are looking for somewhere quiet away from the hurly burly of modern town living then this is the place. But Domaine de PlanAlvy whilst quiet and away from the noise and crowds is only 12 minutes from Limoux, 20 minutes from Mirepoix and 30 minutes from Carcassonne and La Cite. Our guests are free to use any space around our property which extends to some 7 hectares. We do ask them however not to use our personal garden and courtyard immediately outside our lounge and kitchen unless invited to do so. We are situated amongst the vineyards of the Limoux area with a small parcel of chardonnay vines which are taken by a local producer for wine. The property nestles quietly in a small valley and is surrounded by vines and trees. This year friends have opened a Brasserie just 5 minutes from us that serves locally grown and sourced produce. It is only open on Saturday evenings so you will need to book. A little further away is Limoux (10 minutes) which has a variety of shops, bars and restaurants. The medieval city of Mirepoix (20 minutes) again whilst smaller than Limoux also has a lot of amenities not to mention a great Monday market. Then there is Carcassonne, just 25 minutes from here with its world heritage sites, Le canal du midi and La Cite. Staying at Planalvy requires access to a car as we are not in a village and there are no bus or train services near us. Taxes are available but can prove rather expensive to get around. If you prefer not to drive into Carcassonne there is train service from Limoux which costs just 1€ per person. We are not in a village so a car is necessary as there are no shops, bars or restaurants within walking distance. However we are only minutes away by car from several villages which do have them.
